glennmastrange (2413) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - MAY 24, 2015
Tap. Moderate to heavy roasted grain for the malt, heavy orange and herbs for the hops, light dough for the yeast, with notes of peach, wood and some dried fruits. Head is average size, frothy, white with good lacing and good legs, and is mostly lasting. Color is clear medium amber/tan. Flavor starts moderately to heavily sweet and lightly acidic, then the long finish is moderately sweet and bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, oily, with a soft carbonation and a moderately to heavily alcoholic finish. Nice locally made DIPA, and well made at that. I’m glad I didn’t miss this one on my trip to Long Island.

Listed at 10% ABV on the can. Very cloudy amber with a white head. This is almost a barley wine. Heavy, dark fruit. Malty, nutty, and earthy. A bit of hops evens things out with some dry bitterness. Interesting.

Canned 01/02/15 (so it’s getting on in days but it is 10%abv and canned). Pours dark caramel color with almost slight chestnut-white head. Dark for an IPA. Aroma is lots of citrus, grapefruit, orange peel, lemon, and slight malt biscuit sweetness, almost a bit of roasted quality (faint). Flavor is big boozy hops, citrus, orange, and tons of malt for an IPA. There’s a toffee, caramel super sweetness which is actually really pleasant. Very slight dankness present. I like this a lot.

Can sample at a tasting at troubles’ place. Thanks Tom L. Clear-to-hazy amber, white head. Pleasing hoppy aroma of citrus and honey and black pepper, although feels a little old. Bitter, a little spicy and a little old taste. Medium body, sweet finish.

Can sample at a tasting at troubles’s place. Thanks Tom L. Clear deep golden. Aroma of citric and piney hops, slightly stale, a bit of marmalade, and an alcohol hint. Sweetish flavor with malt, some caramel, piney hops, slightly stale, and a bitterish finish with a bit of alcohol. Medium-bodied.

Pours a cloudy rust orange. Has a strong floral hop and mango aroma. Has a strong mix of flavors of fruits, grapefruit, pine, and caramel. A strong bitter and sweet aftertaste.

Can from imstilltheGman... Smells great....grapefruit....hoppy... Average looking brew... bright orange in color...small head. Taste is a respectable DIPA. Light grass notes... medium bitterness... taste is not as good as the grapefruit nose... . Wish it had more citrus/grapefruit. Easy to drink .... respectable DIPA

Draught into a growler. Pours a hazy amber color with a very small head on it. Nose is grassy and wheaty with some great floral hoppiness over the top of it. Taste is slightly bitter, but with a lot of light floral elements to brighten it up. I quite enjoyed this one.

This is a sticky, heavy IPA with a lot of malt and a lot of citrus and floral hops. It pours from the can an almost opaque golden tan with a brief head. The aroma is grapefruit and sweet malt, and the flavor is more of that with a bright, very bitter finish. I can’t taste the alcohol. Surprising with this high ABV. I liked this.
