COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kelso Nut Brown Lager is a dark lager (or German Dunkel), made with German Munich and Melanoidin malts, and hopped with English (Fuggles), German (Hallertau), and American (Northern Brewer) hops. The beer is nutty/malty/spicy with a crisp finish, and is about 5.75%alc/vol.

(Old BA rate - tap) Half-finger of light tan head; foggy dark brown color. Sweetish malts; light hint of grain and a bit of chocolate. Malty sweetness; grainy-metallic flavors. Thin with muted carbonation. Decent; and I could see this being a decent session brew if the metallic flavor wasn’t there. Otherwise has good potential

Tap at The Living Room, NYC. Nut and caramel aromas come through on a thinly opaque brown body. Has a slightly watery malty and nutty flavor to it. Needs a little more depth and body to stack up against some of the better browns.

Draft at One & One in NYC. I actually missed the word Lager on the tap handle so I had assumed this was actually an English Brown ale. Pours a dark mahogany. Nose is light cocoa and toast. Faded hops are present. On taste, round and soft with toasty melanoidins and a full body. Light hop character. Pretty tasty, really.

Tap at Sweet Afton. Reddish brown pour, somewhat clear. Aroma has brown sugar, ginger bread, and chocolate malt. The spice and chocolate are subtle but blend together very nicely Flavor is similar: brown sugar and chocolate malt, but little spice coming through. The chocolate malt comes out more as it warms. A little bit of yeast in the finish. Very nice.

Brown color with a small head. Aroma has nuts caramel, toffee and bitter hops. Some faint pine and toasted grain flavor. A little bitter nuts and hops with some caramel sweetness balancing it a bit. Lingering bitterness.

I’ve had this many times before, and never actually rated it. The color is a thin, clear reddish brown, white head. The aroma is true to the style, malty, nutty. The flavor is malty, brown sugar, nuts. The finish has a slight resin bittering. Medium m outhfeel. Decent.

On tap at the Beechtree. Pours a nice brown with a medium beiged out head. Typical toast and malt aromas. Medium bodied and a bit sweet. Grainy bitter lager finish with a touch of metal.

Tap at Croxley. Pours a deep ambery brown with a nice lasting head. Aroma is nutty dark chocolate, herbal and floral hops. Flavor is a touch sweet- caramel and toffee malts, herbal and lightly grassy, nutty light roast and slight dry dark chocolates, tea-like and English overall with a clean crisp aftertaste and finish. Ok.
