Aroma: mildly aromatic, good set up. Slightly nutty with nice hop notes. Clean and proper.
Appearance: crystal clear amber-dark appearance. L:asting , fine white cap. Rings of crown on glass.4+
Palate / Taste: medium bodied. Slight creamy elements, unwanted in such lagers. Felt slightly washed out . Decent brew.

Draft from a cafe in Williamsburg. This brown ale is stout smooth with mild notes of almonds and chocolate. No discernible hop flavors, but this light-medium bodied beer paired very nicely with my steak dinner.

This is served as the house Nut Brown at 5 Napkin Burger in Astoria, Queens. It’s sweet, golden brown, malty, nutty and a bit thin. It’s decent for a house beer. Not bad at all.

$7.99 growler f/Brew York, filled two days ago. Clear medium auburn with a 1 finger light brown white head, good retention. Aroma of some toasty malts, followed by a pretty good amount of hazelnuts--not the artificial Rogue kind. Flavor is sweeter with some caramel malt notes, but stays plenty dry enough, keeping me happy. Mainly nutty and toasty following through to a semi-dry finish, bitterness at a 2 and a little earthy. No off flavors noted. Light smooth carbonation with a light to medium body. Easy drinking, no complaints here.

Tasting from draft at Rockaway Seafood Company. Light bodied and watery. Roasted malt, stale coffee, some sweet malt in the background. Not much to it.

Nice copper color with decent off-white head. Caramel malt and toasty nose hint of hop in the aroma. Creamy mouthfeel, sweet with hop balance. My type of brown. Well done.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 mansquito (1827) - washington, Washington DC, USA - DEC 18, 2010
Union Hall, Brooklyn tap ($5): Pours a brown color with a beige head... looks and feels like a brown ale. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, nuts. Beer is very malty, but has a definite undertone of lager taste. It is almost as if you try to make a brown ale out of a lager. Not overly complex, but drinkable and pretty tasty. A solid beer, if not anything really special.
