UPDATED: MAY 1, 2013 Cask, JDW, Carlisle. Dry, hoppy bitter. Some grainy malt flavour and a bit woody. Reddish-brown appearance, some fruit in the finish. Rerated May 1st 2013 in bottle. slight score increase, more biscuity and less woody, sweet caramel finish, decent session beer

Bottle. Nicely conditioned with light gold head. Dark bronze colour. Caramel and orange aroma with a dusty something maybe hay. Light palate and mild bitterness. Very easy to drink. but not a lot of body.

Cask @ Bon Accord. Amber colour, off-white head. Aroma is spicy, malty, cinnamon and cloves. Flavour is spicy and fruity, maybe also cinnamon? Caramel, lemonade. Interesting.

Cask conditioned handpump Coach & Horses Wellingborough An amber to deep brown coloured beer with a whitish head and lacing. A bready malty aroma which follows through into the mouth where there are also fruity flavours. Nice vinuous notes. Has nice sweet notes and is tasty.

Cask conditioned at The Holly Bush, Alcester, Warks. Dull amber with no head. Heavy caramel, toffee on the nose with a dry butterscotch flavour, maybe a little chocolate, but very unappealing in this condition.

UPDATED: OCT 7, 2010 Cask gravity at Bedford BF ’09. Very attractive bright amber. Interesting aroma with raisins and faint cocoa malt. Odd malty taste which made me think of chewing Swan Vesta match heads when a child. As you do. Strange how tastes recur years later. Mid bitter finish. Peculiar beer. 7.10.10 Cask at Pilgrims Progress (JDW) Bedford. Slightly sour grapefruit aroma. taste is similar. Mid bitter finish. Ordinary. The wizard in the picture is going to be slightly disappointed when he necks this brew. Rating: 5,4,6,3,11:2.9

Cask-conditioned at the Cornish beer festival, The Star, Bath 19/7/08. Amber coloured with a slight, off-white head. Aroma of red fruits and some citrus hops. Flavour had some sweetness to start, with fruity malts and a long, complex aftertaste of oranges, crystallised fruit and comforting bitterness. Very good.
