A notably hoppy bitter. Attractive deep bronze colour. Spicy, resinous hops in the aroma, almost reminds me of an APA. Flavour is fresh and citric with some malt. Finishes dry and crisp, but maybe falls away slightly. Still very appealing. Cask (gravity dispense), Battersea Beer Festival, February 2005.

Cask-conditioned at the Cornish beer festival, The Star, Bath 19/7/08. Amber coloured with a slight, off-white head. Aroma of red fruits and some citrus hops. Flavour had some sweetness to start, with fruity malts and a long, complex aftertaste of oranges, crystallised fruit and comforting bitterness. Very good.

A Mes rate:
Battersea Beer Fest 2006. Ususal hoppy, citric and floral notes as you would expect but I detected some clear sweetness in it which no one else seems to have noted. For me it was all about the finish with this one. A tiny hint of sugar and alcohol that left me really satisfied. Not an amazing beer but it just finished really well.

UPDATED: MAY 15, 2011 2008: Cask at the Market Porter. A little roasted malt for aroma. Dark amber brown color with a beige head. Medium body with smooth carbonation. Starts with a great stone fruit flavor (like light, not dark), which turns into cardamom, wood, or some herb. So it finishes dry and decently bitter. But the flavor is mystifying.
2011: Bottle from a Costcutter in Penzance. Pours amber with a transient off-white head. Aroma of mildly roasted malt. Flavor is a bit malty with some citrus/fruit bitter. Pretty balance, finishing on the bitter side. There is something strange which suggests roasted marshmallow.
