(Kempisch Vuur 3 Dubbel (Pirlot)) Stubby bottle 330 ml at home, poured into a tulip glass, ABV 7.5% Light brown colour, transparent, clear body, with a small tan head on top. Okay retention, minimal lacing on the glass. Nice aroma, caramel, chocolate, light roasted malts, raisins. Taste follows, dark fruits with raisins and a bit of prunes, sweet malts, chocolate, some spices. Nice bitterness on the aftertaste, with long duration. Medium thin body, with good carbonation. Very nice dubbel!

33cl Bottle from Prik&Tik Pauwels. Deep reddish brown colour, beige head. Aroma of cinnamon, ginger, chocolate, dark fruits, it’s nice but somehow seems off as well, like a starting infection. Flavour is medium sweet, raisins, light roasted malts, cinnamon, ginger, ground cloves, hint of coffee, bittersweet finish with some light-tart dark fruits. Medium-bodied at best. Nice dubbel.

Alengrin (2087) - BELGIUM - AUG 24, 2014
Dark counterpart of Kempisch Vuur Tripel, with a deep bronze colour and thick beige head. Aroma malty, coriander, chocolate, ginger, cinnamon; full malty taste, dried fruits, spicy like most of this range (ginger, cinnamon), Tomahawk hop bitterness in the finish along with roasted bitterness - which I have nothing against, it’s just that they are used too commonly in dark Belgians nowadays, especially by the small brewers.

Het heeft een heel uitgesproken smaak, maar mij kon het echt niet bekoren.

Donker bier met juiste bittere rook smaak, blijft redelijk lang hangen. Kruidige smaak.

33cl bottle. Hazy brown with medium head. NOSE : toffee, spiced bread, dried fruits like raisins and figs, light smoke, cheese. SIP : decent carbonation, medium body, oily texture. Sweet malt notes mingle with burned. It tastes a bit like a black chocolate, delicately burned brownie. Creamy mouth feel copes well with lactic mild flavor like ice cream. Finish is still sweet and definitely burned with revealed delicate dry notes. Aftertaste is a bit like coffee and mud. OVERALL : not a bad dark ale. Something I might drink again. I enjoy burned malt taste in a dubbel that balance the sweet toffee and dried fruit notes.

Brune ambrée trouble, effervescence légère, peu de mousse beige. Malts caramel légèrement grillés, fruité assez présent, amertume un peu épicée et un rien réglissée. Une belle curiosité par son côté fruité.
