Bottle. Roast and bordeaux wine in the aroma. Dark brown color. Tart, vinous flavor in which oak and Bordeaux wine present themselves. And totally overshadow the oats. Lovely beer, though.

75cl, as Kempisch Vuur Haverstout Reserva, new exclusive brew Anno 2013, from De Hopduvel Gent, complex sour Stout, malty/vinous and slightly roasted/woody, not too heavy, very balanced, hazy, good head, very good brew

Small cream head over unclear brown beer. A strange nose, composed of pine, wood, jenever and aftershave, with dark malts lurking beneath. Sourish, lactic, fruity (red fruit) - excellent balance, interesting flavour! In the finish, mushrooms Champignons à la Bordelaise . Medium bodied at best, acid thinning, but slick. Excellent! Some other Be brewers (let’s not do names) do Barrel aging because it’s a fad, and it sells to the geeks. This one is done because it’s a plus - kudo’s!

Bottle sample @ ZBF’13 shared with the RB Belgian.

Cool find by Sebletitje. 2011 Vintage. 75 cl. bottle sampled @ ZBF 2013. Black with some mocha bubbles. Nose is sweet red wine, very vinous, sour bacteria, light berries, mocha & chocolate,… Taste is sweet mocha with souring bacteria, brett, sour red wine barrel, mocha, sour malts, very vinous, body is unfortunately a touch too weak to fully carry this but this is lovely still.

UPDATED: NOV 12, 2013 Accidental rerating, and apparently it matches with my original rating quite well.

5/X/13 - 75cl bottle @ Modeste Bierfestival (Antwerpen) - BB: n/a (2013-xxx)

Clear red purple beer, big aery yellow head, littl stable, non adhesive. Aroma: pretty sour, tannins, vinegar, woody. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: sourish start, fruity notes, bit lemony, acidic, some dried fruits. Aftertaste: very fruity, red fruits, sour cherries, little bitter, more sour, very weird ending. No coffee, or mocha, or chocolate... very weird. Amazing how the stout flavours are completely gone.
