Kemptown Red is the second house ale from the new team at the Kemptown Brewery. Available exclusively at the Hand in Hand brewpub, Kemptown Red is a flavour packed, hop forward Amber Ale. Big fruit flavours balanced against a satisfying and complex malt backdrop. Cheers!

Draft at the Great British Beer Festival 2013, day 3 - London. Pours mostly clear, dark gold with a fine, creamy head. Moderately bready on the nose, with slight orange citrus notes. Light sweet flavor with hints of oily pine, some leaves, orange, bread. Light bodied with fine carbonation; very good condition. Moderately bitter to finish, with grainy bread and light, juicy orange. A good offering here.

Cask conditioned at The Hand in Hand, Brighton. Reddish amber with white head. There is an initial sweetish malt character to this, quite fruity with a hint of raspberry within the hop. Some late bitterness. I enjoyed this.

Cask at The Hand in Hand, Kemptown Brewpub, Kemptown, Brighton, Friday 7th March 2014 Pours red/amber. A fairly traditional bitter was my thought on this, quite safe bit of caramel, malty, fruity, bready, lacks much in the way of hops. However it was in good nick and tasted fine, the last time I was here was ~19 years ago and if I am being honest this was the sort of beer I would have imagined drinking back then. GBBF Day 3. Hazy amber beer, small bubbly off white head. Light dry palate with good fine carbonation. Bitterish toffee malt and then orange led dried fruits. A little grapefruit pith dryness. Bitter linger. All right.

Cask at Hand in Hand, Brighton. It pours clear amber with a small white head. The nose is sweet tinned fruit, caramel, poached pear, caramel and light toast. The taste is toast, brown bread, earth, red berry and decent bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Decent.

Cask conditioned handpump Hand In Hand Brighton 19/05/13. A reddy amber coloured beer. Sweet malts and fruity hops a la Amber ale. Good caramel notes with toffee and fruity berry fuelled hoppy flavours. A bit too sweet for me but it has a long finish and is tasty.
