3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 BelgBeerGeek (1263) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - APR 6, 2013
Thanks to Werner for this one !
Head: Small, beige
Colour: black
Smell: chocolate, coffee and even chillies/peppers ! vanilla as well
Taste: start is bitter chocolate with vague hints of coffee bitterness, no coffee though, nothing clearly of the macadamia or the coconut, bourbon and vanilla are present, but again very subtle, nothing of the chillies/peppers in the flavour while very prominent in the aroma ! good beer and glad i’ve tried it !

660 ml - pours deep brown with a off-white thin head. Aroma of vanilla, bourbony wood, peppers, green paprica. Medium body with subtle smokiness and round mouthfeel... Taste is very balanced coffee and bourbon and... woooow! Not a fan of porter in general but this is yummy!

Shared by starrdogg. Thanks Matt.
The beer is dark brown, somewhat see-through, with a small beige head. The aroma brings coconut, bourbon, booze, vanilla. Nice flavor. I really like this beer. Complex and full of flavor, with a delightful blend of chocolate, oak, and coconut. Easy to drink. Medium bodied with solid carbonation level. I would definitely have this again. Recommended.

500 ml bottle to taster (BIG thanks to brew3crew). Looks good; cola with beige lacing. Smells and tastes good too; macadamia, coconut, and bourbon. Nice on the palate. Outstanding beer.

bottle 12/18/11 from nick and jan.
porter colored with a small ow head.
the aroma is coconuts!...shredded and moist coconut shavings mixed with vanilla, soft mellow bourbon, bs, coffee, roast, hersheys chocolate syrup...oily and magical!
the flavor is luckily the same but with some porter sourness on the finish.
medium bodied and insanely drinkable. it makes the original look pointless...10/3/9+/4/19

Bottle… Dark brown ale with a small, creamy, taupe head. Good retention. The nose delivers bourbon and coconut accentuated by chocolate, toasted oak and vanilla. Medium to full-bodied with a smooth, milky mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. The flavor is a sweet swirl of coconut, bourbon, toasted oak, dark chocolate and fudge. Roasty, lightly sweet, coconut and vanilla finish. Bottle courtesy of richiesd!

Huge thanks to Eric for sharing this bad boy. Clear brown pour with a tan head. Huge roasted malt and expresso notes with undercurrents of coconut, oak, and vanilla. A really well done imperial porter....

Bottle. Darkest brown in color with a very minimal tan head. Nice balanced aroma of roast, chocolate, macadamia and bourbon. Nice balanced flavor with medium sweetness from milk and dark chocolate, along with roast, coffee, nuts, and bourbon. Very tasty if a bit faded from the -bals. Medium-full bodied and extremely smooth on the palate. Great beer, if not quite up to the hype.

Huge thanks to starrdogg for bringing this bottle to the Stone tasting. Served in a Stone goblet.
This was the highlight of the night for me. I loved the base beer when it was younger, and enjoyed this one even more so.
Pours a moderately-dark brown color with a thin off-white head and a good collar throughout. The nose hits hard from the beginning with really fantastic notes of bourbon and coconut along with some chocolate, oak, and vanilla in the background. The vanilla carries through to the flavor along with the bourbon and coconut, and just does wonders.
Body is medium and oh so smooth. The coconut bourbon combo is hard to beat. Wow. Some oak and vanilla carry through the finish, which has a bit of remaining sweetness.
Overall, this was one of the better barrel-aged beers that I’ve had in quite some time. Really fantastic work by the people at Stone, as well as their collaborators. Cheers.

500ml Bottle. Courtesy of peteinSDs wife who had a winning raffle ticket! Looks like a classic porter/stout in the glass with an ebony hue and a nice collar of brown froth. The aroma was the real high point of this one, smooth Bourbon, toasted coconut, dark chocolate and espresso notes all popping out. Didn’t taste quite as good as the nose would lead you to believe, but still an excellent beer with hints of roast, a nutty character and something similar to fudge. Very silky texture that was fairly light on the tongue. Ended with a nice caramel Bourbon note and a hint of coconut. Overall a very smooth beer that wasn’t too big or boozy. Not sure if it was worth the big hype and/or price, but it is a very solid beer that was actually better than I expected.
