4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from Beverages4Less. Pours quite black with a fluffy 2-finger tan head. Lots of coffee aroma. Perhaps a hint of chocolate. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is strong, dark cofffee, almost approaching espresso. There is a strong suggestion of milk chocolate. Finishes towards dry. Thereís bitter, and I donít think itís the coffee. Finishes much like a very good cup of coffee. With chocolate! Late note: It took quite awhile, but I now get the macadamia nut. Lends sort of a greasy/creamy aspect. Coffee and chocolate still seem primary though.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A: I poured this into my Cigar City snifter to reveal a thick, black, beer with a small mocha colored head.
S: The coffee is very dominant in this beer. It overwhelms the other scents at first. However, a bit of sniffing lets the chocolatey porter aromas come through, and the coconut really lends the beer a sweet smell. The nuttiness from the macadamia nuts is present, but mild.
T: As with the nose, the coffee flavor is really the star of the show. The coconut gives the beer a definite sweetness, and becomes more pronounced as the beer warms up. The macadamia nut is also subdued when the beer is chilled, but allow it to come closer to room temperature and it makes an appearance. There is a slight bitterness, which I assume is from the coffee, but it is balanced nicely by the coconut.
M: This beer has a nice viscosity to it and a smooth mouthfeel. The carbonation is much higher than you would have expected, but it provides a nice contrast.
D: Iím generally not the biggest coffee fan, but I am in love with this beer. There are such a variety of flavors and aromas that make it such an interesting beer to drink. Iím glad Iíve got a few more stashed away.

Poured clear brown color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate roasted coffee and coconut aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy roasted coffee and coconut sweet flavor with a medium to heavy oily bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration.
Good complex brew.

Chinchill 12 oz bottle to Iowa City rewfest Teku, courtesy of brosail. Thanks! Pours a dark brown appearance with a brown head. Fairly smoky, coconut, dark cocoa powder, a bit roasty, a bit hot aroma. Carbonation is a bit low. Roasty, a bit burnt malty, lightly nutty, vanilla, chocolate, anise flavor with some roast and light smoke on the finish. Faint metallic note. Glad to finally have tried this one. Thanks sailor!
