Bottle shared by ygtbsm94 on 12/13/09: Pours a dark mahogany with a thin, wispy-lacing off-white head. Aroma of semi-sweet toasty macademia nut and coconut with a dry bittersweet dark chocolate character. Starts with pretty good fullness and a sweet dark chocolate macademia nut flavor with some faint toasty coconut complexity and roasty coffee notes before a smooth bittersweet dark chocolate finish.

A: I poured this into my Cigar City snifter to reveal a thick, black, beer with a small mocha colored head.
S: The coffee is very dominant in this beer. It overwhelms the other scents at first. However, a bit of sniffing lets the chocolatey porter aromas come through, and the coconut really lends the beer a sweet smell. The nuttiness from the macadamia nuts is present, but mild.
T: As with the nose, the coffee flavor is really the star of the show. The coconut gives the beer a definite sweetness, and becomes more pronounced as the beer warms up. The macadamia nut is also subdued when the beer is chilled, but allow it to come closer to room temperature and it makes an appearance. There is a slight bitterness, which I assume is from the coffee, but it is balanced nicely by the coconut.
M: This beer has a nice viscosity to it and a smooth mouthfeel. The carbonation is much higher than you would have expected, but it provides a nice contrast.
D: I’m generally not the biggest coffee fan, but I am in love with this beer. There are such a variety of flavors and aromas that make it such an interesting beer to drink. I’m glad I’ve got a few more stashed away.

12oz bottle. Poured deep brown with a medium-hued tan head. The aroma picked up sweet iced coffee accented by coconut flakes, vanilla, and baker’s chocolate.. as it warmed up, lightly-salted macadamia nuts graced the outskirts of the nose.. this was sweet and just as advertised, thankfully keeping the coconut in check (coconut is terrible), and even somewhat complementary. The flavor found burnt coffee, semi-sweet chocolate, and vanilla sweetness at the core.. toasted coconut was laced throughout, approaching a level of "too much" for my liking.. the macadamias didn’t provide much character aside from some cookies on the back-end.. finished with dry-roasted coffee, chocolate, and toasted coconut. Heavier-bodied and very dry on the palate, despite a solid amount of sweetness.. balance was very, very solid even though there was a lot going on here.. long, memorable finish. Excellent stuff!

Thanks to JaBier for sharing a bottle. The beer pour an opaque brown-black color with a thin tan head that dissipates slowly. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted coffee, nuts and chocolate. Medium body with a roasty character and flavors of malt, coffee, dark chocolate and nuts. The finish is a sweet at first, with a moderately bitter coffee aftertaste that lingers. Overall the macadamia and coconut takes a back seat to the coffee in this brew, but it is pretty enjoyable either way.
