porterhouse (904), Alna, Maine, USA Aug 1, 2008 (Bottle) Kinda bland...Pours quite cloudy light orange/amber. Very small off-white head. Aroma is very low-key, just some light whiffs of caramel and maybe vanilla. Mouthfeel is just OK, a bit pebbly actually. Flavor is a bit of caramel and vanilla maltiness with a decent hop presence that seems to fade in and out at times. Kind of dull and papery. Hops provide a lightly biting bitterness but overall this is pretty ho-hum. Brooktrout (1), Poland Springs, Maine, USA does not count Jul 3, 2007 Handsdown the most refreshing Summer Ale for a late night campfire after a long day on the river!!! ruggedman (416), Portland, Maine, USA May 28, 2007 I thought this was a little better than the other reviewers, although it does seem like the QC may be a little rough on Kennebec beers. Even within my 6pack a few of them tasted different. Golden color, with a hoppy nose. It’s a lighter and not as rugged of an APA then your typical strong APAs. I do think it’s refreshing and crisp enough...one of the few "summer" locals that i can stomach. Dickinsonbeer (2510), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Oct 22, 2006 bottle. Pours a moslty clear deep golden/light copper and a thin white head. Aroma is slightly herbal, and some tea-like hops with a light bready malt character. Hoppy and herbal flavor with light pils malt and a clean fresh bitterness in the end. Pretty good for a easy drinking summer ale- a bit on the light side for a APA though. Casteel420 (59), Bristol, Virginia, USA Aug 23, 2006 Good refreshing summer ale. I got this after crossing the Kennebec on my trip on the AT (about 2 miles west of the trail). Golden pilsneresque color, with a much better taste, very hoppy and slightly malty. Give it a try!
