12oz bottle from Trader Joe’s. Pours a dark brown colored body with a finger-width, dense and frothy, light brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is medium sweet, nutty caramels with a nice cocoa, a light roast, and some fruity notes. Flavor is dry roasts and nutty caramels up front with some cocoa, a good amount of earthy hops, and a few fruity notes before this finishes very dry and roasty with a moderate bitterness and a light, nutty caramel sweetness. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, an alright porter. Dry, roasty, and fairly straight forward, but well balanced with a light, nutty caramel malt sweetness. Not bad.

12 oz bottle from Trader Joe’s. Pours brown with a thick, long lasting, tanned head. Nose is of toasted, bready malt and some hints of chocolate. Body is medium, creamy. Taste is toasted, nutty malt and some earthy hops. Finish is short, mainly of grapefruit, earthy hops and some espresso. Not overly complex, forgettable porter.

Sampled in a 12 oz botle. Porter is a bit sharp but the overall malts are really good quality and was a very nice sipping brew.

Hmmm...picked up budget sixer from Trader Joe’s, not really expecting much, and that’s what I got. Serviceable, but the over carbonation and odd medicinal taste keeps it from being better. Would not classify as a porter.

Courtesy of northernbrews. Pretty standard porter. Brown, beige head. Hints of roast, slight fruit character, plummy. Mouthfeel a little thin at times, but other than that no flaws. Pretty solid for the price.

12 Oz bottle in a English Pint. Poured black, as it should, with a One Finger head that quickly disintegrated. Very smooth texture, and tastes of Chocolate, coffee and perhaps Wood? No lacing to be had, but still a fulfilling brew. If I need a porter on the cheap, this is definitely a good choice :D

12oz bottle 12/8/11 (Trader Joe’s Naperville)-46° in English Pint-Pours dark brown almost black with a small one finger tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate. Taste of the same with a little bit of chocolate milk and smoke. This medium bodied brew is not bad.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Cybercat (1735) - Georgia, USA - NOV 21, 2011
Strong aroma is smoky and slightly sweet, with licorice, molasses and horehound notes. It pours a dark, semi-transparent mahogany with a very thick, fine-bubbled, cream-tan head. Flavor has smoky, malty, molasses and caramel notes, not quite mouth-filling but still pleasing. Smooth texture has average body and minimal fizz.
