Tmoney99 (3503), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Jun 4, 2008 Bottle from Trader Joe’s. Pours clear brown with an average frothy light brown head that was diminished quickly with fair lacing. Moderate roasted coffee nutty aroma. Medium body. Balanced bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of an average duration. Drinkable below average porter. bhensonb (2832), Woodland, California, USA Jan 19, 2008 Brown bottle from Trader Joes. Nutty, chocolaty aroma. Near opaque brown/black color with reddish hilites. A respectable beige/tan head. Thin to medium body with fizzy carbonation. Flavor is caramel, nutty, and maybe a light touch of chocolate. The finish has a slight sour note, some nut, some roasted malt. Reasonably dry. Bitter. Interesting porter. IrishBoy (2111), Bakersfield, California, USA May 10, 2008 12 oz bottle from Trader Joes; not an aliased Sea Dog; Nose has caramel, chocolate and a light diacetyl (buttery) note; claer but very dark brown with a medium beige head; flavor was very light caramel, light hop bitterness, and that pesky diacetyl (light and quickly fading but present). Finish lightly bitter. dwyerpg (2032), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Jul 29, 2008 Not much aroma. Tons of head; dark brown and quite roasty, a little malty. I found this to be pretty enjoyable, drinkable. A great finish. DuffMan (1915), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Feb 14, 2008 Trader Joe’s. Dark brown, manilla head, poor retention. Pretty weak roast and burnt malt, chocolate, woody finish. Comes across as thin and poorly balanced.
