2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask at Craft Beer Clerkenwell, 11/09/14.
Chestnut brown with moderate light beige spotting - not very CDA looking!
Nose is floral hop, toffee, brown bread, nutty wash.
Taste tunes in a little more to the style, earthy hops, toffee, faint pine, straw, citric rinds.
Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close.
Easy drinking affair but just not hitting the style notes very well, lack of roast, lack of pine, lack of hops, a washed out CDA.

Old Fountain. Cask. Clear amber beer, tidy pale tan head. Smooth palate with mild and fine carbonation. There is a light touch of mellow dark malt character here including a little roast. Mild citric hops underneath. Finishes semi dry with a good dose and a good mix of malt and hop bitterness. Not bad.

Cask-conditioned at the Black & Gold beer festival, the Gryphon, Bristol 2/9/2012. Deep brown with a slight, off-white head. Aroma of fruit cake, citrus and a whiff of pine. Flavour of raisins, orange peel and marzipan, leading to a hoppy, dry finish. Very enjoyable.
