2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Sully (1378) - Potts Point, New South Wales, AUSTRALIA - JUN 18, 2003
I occasionally have this on tap when I see it. It is an inoffensive beer with a small amount of pleasing qualities. Not a harsh as a Tooheys old and therefore a little more balanced. I used to drink this as a fifty with Reschs draught in the dim dark past with my old man. Beer tasted better then, but like all memories it is tempered by lack of experience and the thrill of drinking a beer when underage.
2.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 dubs (117) - St Peters, NSW, AUSTRALIA - OCT 13, 2002
Used to have this at Manning for a while, and I bought it because other shit on tap was worse. Its a bit of fun, and slightly tangyer than Tooheys Old but without the street cred. I think you have to play ludo with some unfunny drunk guy you just met when youre drinkin this. Ludo is a very boring board game, and I prefer snakes and ladders. Buy a Kent Old, onell do ya real good. I just think of pub trivia when I thinks of this beer. Cheers mate. My round? OK, cheers. Thatll be a Kent Old will it? Why certainly, that sounds very pleasant and all that fucking bullshit.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 winkle (456) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - SEP 15, 2002
On tap, a fairly smooth inoffensive brown ale, reasonable balance, probably the best beer of Carltons products. Easy to drink.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Nesta13 (205) - AUSTRALIA - AUG 30, 2002
(Draught) Not a bad brown ale although a little ’rough’. Probably the second best macro (i.e. Tooheys or Carlton) behind tooheys old in the country. But in alot of ways it’s still a bland macro...
(Bottle) Surprisingly seems to be a little ’smoother’ out of a bottle although it loses any textured mouthfeel it might have had on tap.
1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 duff (5483) - St, Margarets, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 14, 2002
Pretty crappy stuff in the end, really, really thin. sweetish sort of chocolatey/caramelly sort of flavour (not that well noticed though), easy to drink, but not very exciting.
2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Linc (736) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - AUG 13, 2002
After a sweet lager the thing that hits you most about this beer is the chocolatey taste, once the inital sensation disappears though you’re left with a pretty average brown ale. Good non-confrontational winter evening beer.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Roisterer99 (24) - AUSTRALIA - JUL 8, 2002
I have a friend who travels 500 kms to be able to drink Kent. I wouldn’t go that far but it has a very good body and is just the ticket for a cold, rainy sunday afternoon.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 itsmax (103) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - FEB 28, 2002
This is a real beer!
Great to look at, tastes like magic, especially if you have had several already.
