Commercial Description:
Kentucky Ale is a marriage between two classic beer styles, Irish Red Ale and English Pale Ale. The Kentucky Ale mashing program uses: • the finest 2-row imported Harrington malt, • select caramel malt varieties grown both domestically and abroad, • a pinch of wheat malt for a smooth, creamy taste. Varieties of the English hops East Kent Goldings and Fuggles impart a spicy yet soft, floral aroma without a harsh, bitter aftertaste. These ale hops are used to balance the sweetness of the malt and are an important flavor component of Kentucky Ale. Light copper in color, the unique body and character of Kentucky Ale is heavily influenced by the water, drawn from aquifers in the limestone underlying the Bluegrass Region of Kentucky.

12 oz bottle consumed in Lexington KY - Pours amber and slightly cloudy. A film of white head graces the top. Aroma is slight caramel and grass. Flavor is grainy caramel malts and a little yeast. Not much in the way of hops. Feels o.k. on the palate kind of smooth like butterscotch. Not all that bad for 5.99 a six here in KY..

Dark orange that is almost an amber color. The aroma is nice tobacco with some caramel. There is also a little bit of peanut. The taste has some nutty caramel. There is also a little tart apple with some hay. Interesting concoction.

12 oz. bottle: Pours darker orange with little to no head. Aromas are very light, hard to pick up the faint caramel malt, some light grassiness as well. Flavor is grainy, but so very light. Where are the hops? Better than most macros, but that isn’t saying much.

12 oz bottle that pours orange with a small head. Aroma is mostly malt with some caramel. Some hop presence along with a mellow dough taste. Nice mouthfeel and not as bad as I thought it would be.

In the bottle. A gift from Bill Baburek. Pours amber in color with a non-existent head. I’m about to generalize here and state that beer that makes you burp is usually bad beer. This one folks is a burper. It has a very subtle caramel malt aroma, but no hop aroma. Tingly and crisp in flavor, this has plenty of calcium carbonate. A little more malt flavoring than your average macro, but not much more. I liken this to the old "Governor’s Ale" that was carried by the Harris Teeter grocery chain (made by the Virginia Brewing Co.) many years ago.

Pours out a clear light copper color with about an inch of off white head that dies quickly. Aroma is light with malt and a faint grassiness. Taste was more malt than anything with caramel sweetness being the only real component to stand out. Maybe a faint hoppiness in the slightly bitter dry after taste but that might be stretching it. Body was light to medium with good carbonation. Drinkability was decent enough, not a bad beer just not a typical pale ale. I would definitely take this over the macros but this is below average.
