COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kentucky Ale is a marriage between two classic beer styles, Irish Red Ale and English Pale Ale. The Kentucky Ale mashing program uses: • the finest 2-row imported Harrington malt, • select caramel malt varieties grown both domestically and abroad, • a pinch of wheat malt for a smooth, creamy taste. Varieties of the English hops East Kent Goldings and Fuggles impart a spicy yet soft, floral aroma without a harsh, bitter aftertaste. These ale hops are used to balance the sweetness of the malt and are an important flavor component of Kentucky Ale. Light copper in color, the unique body and character of Kentucky Ale is heavily influenced by the water, drawn from aquifers in the limestone underlying the Bluegrass Region of Kentucky.

Draft. Clear light amber with an off white head. Faint aroma of caramel, grain and light herbal tea. Flavor is malty mostly with a faint hop bitterness. Medium to light body with average carbonation. No real flaws, just a bit boring.

UPDATED: NOV 13, 2012 Bottle. Rather plain. Some caramel sweetness, almost no hop character. Surprisingly lager-like brightness and refreshingness. Easy drinking but nothing really to write home about.

Color is a peachish/ light-copper . Aroma is tart/ mildlysour butter with some sweetness. Taste is about the same but with mild hoppy floral, spice i guess. NOt really getting the Irish red much here. More of a buttery light herbal, mild sourish barrel woodyness going on than anything else.Good drinkability and pretty refreshing though. Beats a premium lager in most cases.Seems more than a pinch of wheat also. Nothing off-putting in taste.Seems more of a pale/wheat beer.

Sample @ Stockholm Beer & Whisky 2012. Pours clear amberish golden with a rather small frothy offwhite head that leaves a small trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is sweet and damp with old bread, orange peal, lemon zest, silage, slightly rotten fruits and berries and hints of caramel. Taste is sweet, malty and sugary with sweet dark bread, caramel, overripe plums, moist soil, cereal, red berries and hints of wood, orange peal, butterscotch and lemon zest. Mouthfeel is round, slightly smooth and light to medium bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with bread, caramel, grass, red berries and hints of citrus. Not a great beer but at least I got my state tick.

Pours a light copper color, aroma was off, not much happening with this beer, sweet and malty yet a hint of bitterness

Bottle, 33cl - Clear amber beer with a small head. Aroma is malty with notes of caramel, hay, bread and toast. Flavor is malty with notes of honey, corn, bread and some caramel. Nothing special, don’t know if I would have classed it as an amber ale though.
