Kentucky Ale is a marriage between two classic beer styles, Irish Red Ale and English Pale Ale. The Kentucky Ale mashing program uses: • the finest 2-row imported Harrington malt, • select caramel malt varieties grown both domestically and abroad, • a pinch of wheat malt for a smooth, creamy taste. Varieties of the English hops East Kent Goldings and Fuggles impart a spicy yet soft, floral aroma without a harsh, bitter aftertaste. These ale hops are used to balance the sweetness of the malt and are an important flavor component of Kentucky Ale. Light copper in color, the unique body and character of Kentucky Ale is heavily influenced by the water, drawn from aquifers in the limestone underlying the Bluegrass Region of Kentucky.

Bottle. Amber with a small white head. Aroma of caramel and some stewed fruits. Lowish carbonation. Sweet with caramel and some vague fruit, some pepper emerges in finish that’s low on bitterness but just leans towards dry. No good.

Beat my expectations. Good brew but nothing special. Malty flavor. Nice blend. Good pour. Will have to check out their other offerings

A mediocre beer. Pours from the bottle with a thin head. I couldn’t smell it and that foretold the weak taste. Bettter than mass produced ale but that’s no endorsement.

355ml Bottle at the Hilton in Lexington Kentucky. Pours a clear amber with a thin head and no lacing. Almost no aroma. Light hints of malt and carmel. Thin mouthfeel and somewhat over-carbonated. Up front is mild malt sweetness and a hint of hops. Very little hop character. The malt flavors come thru in the taste but in a diluted and particularly boring way. The finish has a very slight hop bitterness but is faint and dissipates quickly. Very average undistinguished beer that has the saving grace of being unoffensive and drinkable. The beer is a C-minus. Drink only if it's a hot summer day and your only alternative is one of the macro-brew lite beers. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draught at the Shenanigan’s Wine & Spirits, Lexington, KY.
Clear golden colour with a tiny white head. Mild sweet malt and a touch of hops in the aroma. Malt, mild hops and no bitterness in the flavour. Easy and boring.

Sampled at esbls. Clear with just a little amber hue but not much. Ok, almost clear. I taste honey, grain, and wood. Some earth. Not as bad as feared.

12 oz bottle served in a lager glass. Clear, medium amber. Has an average size head with average retention, but both the visible carbonation and the feel suggest a rather high carbonation level. Floral, modestly hoppy aroma is marred by a metallic tone and suggests a beer that is more bitter than this one. Actually, this has a good sweet/bitter balance. O: disappointing on counts of both aroma quality and weak flavor. A decent but not particularly attractive brew.
