The first brew produced by Alltech Lexington Brewing and Distilling Co, Kentucky Ale® is described as a marriage between two classic beer styles, Irish Red Ale and English Pale Ale. With a light amber color, Kentucky Ale owes its body and character to select imported malts and a pinch of wheat malt for a rich, smooth taste. This brew is placed into bourbon barrels to make the brewery’s flagship Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale®.

Amber pour. Looks good. Bread dough and malt nose with a touch of sweet toffee. Well balanced. More malt and caramel but not too sweet. Nice finish.

Bottle shared by my father in law. Pours a clear amber color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor has moderately sweet malt, light caramel, light florals and grass . Soft on the palate, very smooth. Just not much at all to write about with this.

Bottle @ Fossen Bryggeripub, Dale. Pours a slightly hazy dark orange body with a small white head. Nose is caramel, nuts, almonds, red berries, hints of orange and citric tones. Taste is caramel, almonds, citric tones and hints of nuts and straw. Medium body and carbonation. Decent amber ale of the rather light and malty type.

Lekkie i pilane piwo.

Reviewed from notes. Consumed May 31st, 2013. The appearance had a clear golden amber body with red/brown tints here and there, one finger white foamy head that quickly dies and leaves a bubbly film coating the top of the body, some sticky lacing graces the sides of the glass. The smell had some bready, malty, strong scent of caramel. The taste was sweet through the previously mentioned flavors, no aftertaste, dry finish. On the palate, it sat light, sessionable, carbonation is spot on. Overall, this is not a bad English pale ale and doesn’t get that "soapiness" some English Pales do, those who are normally turned off by the "soapiness" from English Pales could be pleased with this one, I would have this again.

From the 355 ml. bottle. The pour is a handsome looking medium amber the way I like this style to be. A short-lived head. The aroma has a nice caramel and roasted malt note and a an earthy hop background. Light to medium body. Interesting caramel roastiness in the taste with a somewhat astringent but modest hop bite at the end. Pretty typical and enjoyable for the style.
