Kentucky Ale is a marriage between two classic beer styles, Irish Red Ale and English Pale Ale. The Kentucky Ale mashing program uses: • the finest 2-row imported Harrington malt, • select caramel malt varieties grown both domestically and abroad, • a pinch of wheat malt for a smooth, creamy taste. Varieties of the English hops East Kent Goldings and Fuggles impart a spicy yet soft, floral aroma without a harsh, bitter aftertaste. These ale hops are used to balance the sweetness of the malt and are an important flavor component of Kentucky Ale. Light copper in color, the unique body and character of Kentucky Ale is heavily influenced by the water, drawn from aquifers in the limestone underlying the Bluegrass Region of Kentucky.

Draught at the Shenanigan’s Wine & Spirits, Lexington, KY.
Clear golden colour with a tiny white head. Mild sweet malt and a touch of hops in the aroma. Malt, mild hops and no bitterness in the flavour. Easy and boring.

Sampled at esbls. Clear with just a little amber hue but not much. Ok, almost clear. I taste honey, grain, and wood. Some earth. Not as bad as feared.

12 oz bottle served in a lager glass. Clear, medium amber. Has an average size head with average retention, but both the visible carbonation and the feel suggest a rather high carbonation level. Floral, modestly hoppy aroma is marred by a metallic tone and suggests a beer that is more bitter than this one. Actually, this has a good sweet/bitter balance. O: disappointing on counts of both aroma quality and weak flavor. A decent but not particularly attractive brew.

Light copper in color with a fine, bright white head, it looks pretty light-bodied. The aroma, well... it smells like feet. I think. I don’t know. I just can’t figure it out. It’s super light in the mouth, both in body and flavor. It’s very thin, with an almost spicy character though. It’s interesting, I’ll give it that, and kinda neat. Creative cooking? Although I’m not too impressed by this beer and despite its light body, it’s still pretty entertaining.

Bottle at Kungsgatan 1. Light bready and malty smell and taste. Fairly sweet. Fairly mild and doesn’t bring anything extra, a bit boring, but still drinkable.

12oz bottle. Pours medium amber with a white head. Average pale ale with light caramel notes. Nothing much to say about this one. It is what it is.
