2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
12 oz bottle pours a clear amber/copper color with moderate eggshell heand and not much lacing. Aroma is soapy with mostly caramel malts and yeast. Taste is neutral with a short finish- could use some hops. Light to medium body. Not difficult to drink but nothing memorable. The bourbon-barrel-aged version of this is much better.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Yadda, yadda, yadda. BFD!! Slightly darker yellow than the average piss poor macro. Off beige head is pretty. So lightly hopped it doesn’t matter. Roasted grains are detected, unfortunately those grains are corn and wood. Quick finish is wayyyyy too quick if you ask me. This is not horrible, yet it IS horribly mediocre.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 8/20
Great American Beer Festival, 2012. Light amber color with a thin palate and mild malt flavor. It drinks easily enough, but the long description, it is very light and doesn’t have much to offer.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
14 oz. draft on tap at O’Charleys in Georgetown, KY. Offered thus local ale by the waitress and had to try it. Looks nice - clear brown gold ale with no head and only trace lacing. No aroma really. Taste is deep roasted malts with a non bitter hops finish. Something unique in that aftertaste I can’t quite peg. Very soft palate and rather flat. Warming. A nice compliment with my meal. At least, better fare than the commercial crap.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A mellow, chalky, grainy aroma with light toasted notes - really put me in the mind of whole grain bread, or some of the less assertive pumpernickels that I’ve had. Light orange, clear beer with a decent white head. Bad label, good 6’er packaging. Sweet, caramel, lightly bitter, a little bock-y tin, implied milk chocolate. Slightly heavy mouthfeel, a little chalky and creamy. This had an overall sweet and smooth character. Not bad. ABC Liquors, Betton.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
The aroma is slightly soapy with brown sugar, mixed grains, and light hops. The appearance is amber gold with a foamy head. The taste is like the aroma with an astringent finish. The palate is soft. The beer is overall drinkable but definitely needs the bourbon barrel aging to make it enjoyable.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Tallahassee, Fl - ABC Fine Wine & Spirits - Betton - 12 oz bottle. Pours a sparkling medium golden with a tight white head, little to no lacing. Pretty much a neutral aroma with some brief nutty accents. Flavor is pleasant but somewhat bland. some caramel notes shine through, a brief hint of citrus, some nuttiness. Mouthfeel is thick enough. Nothing offensive, just not a flavorfest.
