It does explain a lot to read the commercial description and see that they’re aiming, in part, for an English Pale Ale. Bronze color, not a ton of head. An aroma of dusty caramel and stale carrots. The flavor is musty, slightly sweet but also vegetal and grassy. The palate is more English than American (hence the earlier comment on learning what they were trying for)--low carbonation in body, smooth-ish, low bitterness, but just a wee bit flat in feeling. I didn’t think this was too good, but at least I got a Kentucky beer out of it. IrishBoy (2732), Bakersfield, California, USA

Nose of caramel, and grain, with a light vanilla and fruity pear note in the background; dark gold with a small off-white head; flavor has a bit of fruitiness, toffee, and a tiny buttery note. Cool bottle cap with a horses head on top! Maybe it’s brewed by the Godfather! OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA

A film of white head graces the top. Aroma is slight caramel and grass. Flavor is grainy caramel malts and a little yeast. Not much in the way of hops. Feels o.k. on the palate kind of smooth like butterscotch. Not all that bad for 5.99 a six here in KY.. Volgon (2490), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

I’m sure this would do better fresh out of a cooler from the bottle, than at cellar temp in a tulip glass. KAggie97 (2485), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA

Aroma is nutty banana and wet autumn leaves. Flavor is caramel and a slight butterscotch, with a watery nut finish. Watery mouthfeel. aracauna (2427), Georgia, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 27, 2004 Clear copper body with a white head. Faint hops are pretty much all I’m getting in the nose. It’s a dry beer with fairly little malt in there. Some grassy hops is all there is of the flavor. This is pretty bland and pretty much a dissappointment, although I wasn’t really expecting much from a brewery that makes nothing but an "ale" and a "light." Walt (2289), Chicago, Illinois, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 20, 2004 The commercial description is missing the part about this beer recipe being handed down by Jesus. In any event, it pours with a clear light amber body and a minimal off-white head. Yes, there is actually aroma (can you tell I don’t have high hopes for this one?) of biscuit and toast. OK, the suggestion that this is a "marriage" between an Irish Red Ale and English Pale Ale is apt- the flavor begins with cheerios and light toasty malt, finishing with earthy English hops for a slightly bitter finish. That said, this beer is too timid. A boost in the grain bill and hops additions would improve the body.
