COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale™ With a little creative curiosity, we used spent bourbon casks, fresh from decanting, and filled them with our very own Kentucky Ale. From barrels that once held the finest bourbons of Kentucky, we present Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, a smooth, golden elixir unlike any other. Subtle yet familiar flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale as it rests in the charred barrel. We attribute this to what the bourbon maker calls the “angel’s share”. Elegantly smooth and modestly carbonated, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale is a fine sipping ale with the distinctive nose of a well-crafted Kentucky bourbon.

Good novelty beer with very distinct bourbon taste. Smooth mouthfeel and finish without the burn that typically accompanies bourbon.

On draft at George Keeley. Pours murky brown. Aroma is absolutely disgusting, mole, fermented vinegar, gross barrel. Taste is moldy, old, gross, in drinkable.

Hazy golden color, minimal white head. Coffee and whiskey nose. Aroma is bourbon, oak, some coffee and vanilla. Medium body, average carbonation. You can taste some alcohol too, which is good for this one.

Bottle. Smell and taste similar. Kinda plain for a bourbon cask ale. Was underwhelmed. Obviously still better than domestic lager

Tasted from bottle. Pours a clear orange amber with white head that fades quickly. Aroma is sweet, syrup, caramel, wood, bourbon. Taste is similar to nose with minimal to no bitterness. Very sweet tasting with maple syrup, caramel, bourbon, figs, toffee. Medium bodied. Not as balanced as I'd like. Sub par overall. Have had much better bourbon barrel beers. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap poured into a snifter. The aromas coming off this one are woody / oak, caramel, bourbon, chocolate, nuts, and a dried dark fruit sweet character (fig and raisin). It pours a clear, caramel brown with a white head that reduces down to a medium thin ring with a clear surface and practically no lace. It’s a very rich, malty, medium high sweetness, with a light woody bitter. It’s an oily texture with a bit of a chewiness to it, and a medium full, rich malt body accompanied by ample soft carbonation. It has a sweet caramel, chocolate, and nutty finish (kinda like a turtle candy) with a brandy alcohol warmth at the finish. There’s also some cough syrup and fig. The brandy lingers a bit in the aftertaste with it’s graininess and sweetness.

Hazy amber color, average sized white head. Lots of lacing on the glass. Medium to full body, soft carbonation. Strong bourbon aroma, coconut, oak, malt, caramel. Medium sweet taste with no bitterness. Very interesting.

Well balanced bourbon flavored beer. Nice hint of caramel and vanilla accompanies the distinctive bourbon flavour. Exceptionally smooth for an 8.2% beer, not a session beer but prefect for a relaxing night.
