COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale™ With a little creative curiosity, we used spent bourbon casks, fresh from decanting, and filled them with our very own Kentucky Ale. From barrels that once held the finest bourbons of Kentucky, we present Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, a smooth, golden elixir unlike any other. Subtle yet familiar flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale as it rests in the charred barrel. We attribute this to what the bourbon maker calls the “angel’s share”. Elegantly smooth and modestly carbonated, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale is a fine sipping ale with the distinctive nose of a well-crafted Kentucky bourbon.

On tap @ Bakgården Både &. Clear amber body with a small off-white head. Strong in aroma dominated by Bourbon with some wood, caramel and vanilla. Flavor is sweet caramel malt, Bourbon, oak, vanilla, warming alcohol and low bitterness. Full body and strong aftertaste. Somehow nice in moderate portions, but way too sweet and feels a bit one dimensional in the bottom of the glass. But still nice.

Bottle--Hello, Kentucky! I don’t normally like bourbon based brews, but this isn’t so bad, perhaps is because the bourbon sits in the background. The beer looks like bourbon with a small head. The aroma is malty with a bourbon backbone. Mix in some vanilla and you have the taste, though the bourbon is stronger on the finish. A bit of an oily finish. Total Wine.

Pours a beautiful amber gold with a thin white head. Nose is malty. Fairly creamy on the palate, the taste is malt with a bourbon backbone. Slight hops kick on the finish for a slightly dry aftertaste. A very pleasing beer. Weighs in at an 8% ABV; almost like sipping whisky. Pairs well with honey roasted nuts.

Had on tap at the Grey Goose in Lexington, Ky. Poured into a snifter. Very attractive clear bourbon color. No head at all, but that’s likely due to the care the bartender took in pouring the beer. Some oaky vanilla on the nose, but it’s so very delicate. Not much else going on in the aroma. Mouthfeel is slick, wet, and a little oily. The flavor consists of mild oak, vanilla, and bourbon. It falls a little flat. But, otherwise a decent beer.

bottle. not a fan of the strong ale. i suppose you can call it unique in it’s taste, but not easy to enjoy.

Poured from a bottle. Dark clear pour, slight head. Very strong oak aroma with a healthy scent of bourbon. Flavor is coffee with a hint of vanilla. Not bad but not my favorite in the class.

16.03.2013. On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Golden colour with white head. Aroma of smooth vanilla bourbon with a soft malty tone. Very nice and soft aroma. Flavours is more vanilla and pretty obvious bourbon notes. Medium body and moderate good bitterness.

Bottle. Brassy golden colour with a brief white head. Aroma is full of oaky vanilla, very buttery, with just a hint of sour wood. The palate is sweet, and is dominated by rye whiskey flavours with an anemic grainy pale malt structure lending poor support. This was much like Innis & Gunn Original, but harsher and with even less malt support if that’s possible. Not my thing at all.

Light brassy color, with nice, off-white cover. Feint bourbon wood aromatics, mixed with a swish of maple syrup and vanilla.Whiskey flavors push through onto the palate, albeit the body is on the thin side. A bit like a depth charge of a pale lager beer and a shot of whiskey. Coconut finish.

Had this on tap at the East Nashville Beer Festival. Golden orange color. Aromas of vanilla and bourbon and honey. Sweet and alcoholic finish.
