COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Award-winning Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale® is a unique sipping beer with the distinctive nose of a well-crafted bourbon. Our Kentucky Ale® is aged for up to six weeks in freshly decanted bourbon barrels from some of Kentucky’s finest distilleries. Subtle yet familiar flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale as it rests in the charred barrels. Pleasantly smooth and robust, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale may also be served as an aperitif or after-dinner drink. Launched in 2006, it has grown to become the flagship beer of the premier name in barrel-aged beers: Alltech Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company.

Draught (taster) at Bar Americain in NYC on 17-Mar-2016. Clear dark amber colour with a thin tan coloured head. Aroma of malt, caramel and I do get some (faint) bourbon and spices. Full body and soft/medium carbonation. Sweet flavour of malt, butterscotch and caramel. Some wood and vanilla. Not bad but tough to drink quickly.

Meh. This beer tastes like Michelob Dark with some sort of bourbon syrup added to it. I seriously doubt it spent more than 30 seconds inside of a bourbon barrel, which would fit its deScription of "up to six weeks" now wouldn’t it?

UPDATED: APR 4, 2016 Tap at dino BBQ, BK. Pours dark honey, big white head, nice lacing. Aroma is cloying. Butterscotch, sloppy bourbon flavor. Wow, what a mess. Flavor is intense butterscotch, just like someone said: "Hey, I like beer. Let’s make one" but there’s no finesse. Like making lemonade with one lemon, water and a bag of sugar.

04-MAR-2016, bottle @Ulklřbben meeeting, @Mads. Clear, dark golden with a low off-white head. Sweet. Malty, caramel, Vanilla. Not a lot of Bourbon if any. Really thin body. Boring.

12 oz bottle shared with ebone1988 from Dumpster Box No. 2. The pour is a bright copper color with a thicker white head and a ton of lace. And a bit of lacing left behind. The aroma is all barrel character. There is a sweet vanilla and a bit of bourbon to go with a little woodiness. The sweet booze is really throwing me for a loop. It's the only detectable thing. Ugh. The flavor is well... Hmm. It tastes like a liquid. There is a light sweet malt and a little vanilla, but that's it. It's a liquid that has absorbed some barrel character. The mouth feel is thick and syrupy with a barely-there carbonation and a bit so good, single-dimensional sweetness for an aftertaste. I don't know that I've had a beer that does so little. This is just liquid that's absorbed some vanilla and seems to exist.

Bottle shared with koleminer20, out of Dumpster Day box #2. Aroma is caramel, bourbon, barrel, booze, medicinal. Appearance is light amber, white head. Taste is muted, slight caramel, metallic, toffee, almost non-existent. Mouthfeel is medium body, light to almost no carbonation, boozy aftertaste. Overall, I’d call it bad if it had any flavor.

Clear light amber body with a few bubbles racing to the top. White head. The bourbon flavor is there but is smoothed out in the finish some by vanilla? Taste of alcohol is there. A more of a medium thin body. Definitely more of a sipping beer than a satisfying drinking one.
