Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale™ With a little creative curiosity, we used spent bourbon casks, fresh from decanting, and filled them with our very own Kentucky Ale. From barrels that once held the finest bourbons of Kentucky, we present Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, a smooth, golden elixir unlike any other. Subtle yet familiar flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale as it rests in the charred barrel. We attribute this to what the bourbon maker calls the “angel’s share”. Elegantly smooth and modestly carbonated, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale is a fine sipping ale with the distinctive nose of a well-crafted Kentucky bourbon.

Poured ino tulip a nice Amber with white head that receded to sides of glass, some lacing. Roma was caramel, oak, sweet. Taste was sweet oak, caramel with a lot of vanillia. Good co2 and a very drinkable smooth body. I didn’t get much bourbon in the nose or mouth. Good for football games because it’s a easy drinker, not bad.

"poured too cold, so the aroma took a while to come out, but was quite nice after some swirling. vanilla, oak, bourbon and spice (pepper) on the nose. the flavor is way more bourbon, even when cold, than i was expecting, but like Louis said...not overpowering, but smooth. also has an attractive redish orange hue. of course, it all boils down to if you like a good bourbon or not. i think i’d like the one that was originally in these barrels cause this is a tasty, aromatic, unique brew that avoids the cloying sweetness of some BB stouts. the only things that prevent me from giving this a higher score are the relatively thin body, and (especially without knowing what the original Kentucky Ale is like) not being able to taste much outside the BB flavors...but it was gooood. Thanks again Blues. BTW, I was in disbelief that this beer is only 4.5% as listed above-it’s listed at 7.9% on the brew’s web site. traded for again 11/09-cool beer. i’d buy this often if it were availabale here

On tap @ Beer Camp - Chicago. Pour is deep copper/brown with a small white head. Aroma and flavor of strong bourbon, vanilla bean, booze, oak chips, and light caramel. Finish is sweet and boozy, but thin, which is weird for the style.

Draught. Deeper golden one with a small white head on its top. Nose and aroma ruled by vanilla escorted by caramel and alcohol, mouthfeel is oily. Sweetbitter, warming, citric finish. Not very exciting, but still a good one.
