Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale™ With a little creative curiosity, we used spent bourbon casks, fresh from decanting, and filled them with our very own Kentucky Ale. From barrels that once held the finest bourbons of Kentucky, we present Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, a smooth, golden elixir unlike any other. Subtle yet familiar flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale as it rests in the charred barrel. We attribute this to what the bourbon maker calls the “angel’s share”. Elegantly smooth and modestly carbonated, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale is a fine sipping ale with the distinctive nose of a well-crafted Kentucky bourbon.

From a growler. Light brown on the pour. For a Bourbon drinker the Bourbon absolutely came through in the aroma and flavor. Not really my cup of tea.

A bit too sweet for my taste, but nice character and malty character in balance with an effervescent mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On the way home, stopped in Lexington, KY for a bourbon tour. The upscale burger restaurant named BRU had a great beer list. I wanted a bourbon barreled beer and this local beer hit the mark. Great colour, nose and taste. Enjoy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Couleur caramel translucide, relativement plate, quasi pas de mousse. Nez boisé, caramel, alcool, raisin sec. Bouche sucrée (trop) et alcoolisée, le caramel, petit côté boisé. Corps moyen, carbonation nulle. Pas formidable ...

dark golden colour, moderate sized creamy off-white head;aroma of bourbon, vanilla, figs, smoky notes and maybe some caramel; taste is the same with minimal alcoholic notes; not bad

Pretty good! I picked this up at a Kroger in Kentucky not knowing what bourbon barrel ales would taste like and I was pleased. Lots of vanilla, some corn sweetness and a round bourbon pleasantness.

A couple years’ ageing helped. Bourbon and mild roast nose. Though not thick, it’s a smooth mouthfeel with tons of foam. Bourbon and oak. A sipper.

Bottle:   Soft sweet Bourbon like nose, but moreso candied.   Sweet vanilla, marshmallow, graham cracker, but they’re all sweet.   Soft malty start, similar flavor profile as the nose suggested.   Simple bourbon like qualities, but no heat or much else to this beer.   Just a sweet somewhat malty beer.   Its like the base beer is non-existent or undetermined as all there exists is some sweet bourbon like flavors.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Pretty simple, sweet, and without much character.   Doesn’t taste bad or have anything off about it, but its fairly boring.

Bottle with friends. Golden orange appearance with a khaki head. Caramel, chewy oak, vanilla, some bourbon, and a bit of fruit. Apple, heavy oak, tannic flavor. Not very good.
