On tap @ Beer Camp - Chicago. Pour is deep copper/brown with a small white head. Aroma and flavor of strong bourbon, vanilla bean, booze, oak chips, and light caramel. Finish is sweet and boozy, but thin, which is weird for the style.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Deeper golden one with a small white head on its top.
Nose and aroma ruled by vanilla escorted by caramel and alcohol, mouthfeel is oily.
Sweetbitter, warming, citric finish.
Not very exciting, but still a good one.

Dark leather like brown color with quickly dissipating fizzy head. Aroma is vanilla bourbon apple. Boozy bourbon flavored ale, vanilla oak molasses. Tasting notes are more like a Kentucky whiskey than a beer.

Gold with a white head. Nose is wood, alcohol, light vanilla, and malts. Easy palate, heavy alcohol, chewy malts, dough, and an easy finish.

I thought this was pretty damn good. Pours an oakish amber with a pretty foamy white head. Yeast, malt and whiskey in the aroma. Taste is sweet and warm. Nice ale with some malt and the perfect hint of bourbon. Alcohol percent is very well hidden. Very nice.

I like bourbon-barrel ales in general, and this is no exception. The Kentucky Ale which isn’t barrel-aged is quite mainstream and boring. The barrel aging definitely kicks it up a notch, adding strong bourbon flavors, a hint of oaky vanilla, and a filling element to the beer. When it comes to relatively inexpensive craft beers, I like this one well enough. Would I say it’s the best bourbon-barrel-aged beer on the market? No.

The smell of bourbon is the first thing that hits you as you pour this ale. Rather thin head. Copper tone. Taste is that of bourbon, with a bit of ale. Rather weak, watered down. Overall, a decent ale, but nothing to write about.

Amber pour, strong floral with oak and whiskey finish aroma. Sweet start with smokey bourbon finish. Plenty of complexity to enjoy sipping. Even has a subtle lingering Bourbon burn

I love this beer. It’s alcohol content is fairly high, and it’s a little sweet (it’s the whiskey taste) for some people, but it’s very smooth, with the oak flavor of the bourbon coming through. It’s also not so carbonated, very smooth. I’d call it a coffee hater’s alternative to Guinness. :) The stout is hoppier, but this is a dessert beer.
