Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale™ With a little creative curiosity, we used spent bourbon casks, fresh from decanting, and filled them with our very own Kentucky Ale. From barrels that once held the finest bourbons of Kentucky, we present Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, a smooth, golden elixir unlike any other. Subtle yet familiar flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale as it rests in the charred barrel. We attribute this to what the bourbon maker calls the “angel’s share”. Elegantly smooth and modestly carbonated, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale is a fine sipping ale with the distinctive nose of a well-crafted Kentucky bourbon.

Pours a clear orange with a very thin film of soapy head. Punch in the face odor of alcohol and maple with some tart fruit. The aroma borders on overpowering. Strong chocolate and raspberry flavor, with not a lot to balance out the sweetness of both the bourbon barrel flavor as well as the alcohol. I was interested when I first saw a bourbon barrel ale, but in the end, I wish it was a bit more balanced.

I like this ale. It has a light bourbon flavor and amber gold color. It reminds me of my trip through the buffalo trace distillery, and the incredible samples at the end of the tour. This is an ale with a completely unique flavor that is a "must try" IMHO.

Bottle from Winooski Beverage Warehouse... Aroma: bourbon, candies, caramel, toffee, alcohol. App: clear copper, almost no head. Taste and palate: average carbonation, light body, light sweetness, watery and dry. Brownies, vanilla taste. Overall: appearance is so so, taste is too light as if I’m drinking water. For a bourbon ale was looking for something way more funkier than that. Funny to say but too easy to drink for a bourbon barrel ale imo, but ABV is quite high so we need to be careful.

Poured light amber with a frothy off white head. Aroma of booze, fudge, roast malt and some vanilla. Medium to full body, flavour much as the aroma.

Pours light-rusty nail with a quickly dissipating white head. The aroma is candied fruit, a little sarsaparilla, finishing with a vanilla, toffee, almost cough drop flavor. Overall, none of these flavor are appealing.

Pours a caramel color with a medium head. Earthy notes, with a rich, whiskey-like flavor. Unique and very tasty.

Copper color with Smokey bourbon taste that dances in the mouth and a smooth finish

smell is strong of vanilla/oak with a sweetness to it...taste is smooth and creamy...very unique...slightly sweet that dissipates pretty quickly leaving just a touch of bitterness and butteryness on the finish, great for one, but more than that might be tricky because of the strong flavor...just misses the mark on being a great beer...but not sure how I’d change it...a bit more mouthfeel perhaps?

Bottled. Pours a rusty red-orange with essentially no head. Aroma is medium orange zest up front that is quickly replaced with heavy caramels, followed by whiffs of vanilla and light oak. Sweet caramel flavor accompanied with stale straw. Finish has a little alcohol note and only there do I get some lightly toasted wood and bourbon (especially in the lingering aftertaste). Overly carbonated and bordering on cloyingly sweet. Thanks to Elwood62 for the bottle!
