Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale™ With a little creative curiosity, we used spent bourbon casks, fresh from decanting, and filled them with our very own Kentucky Ale. From barrels that once held the finest bourbons of Kentucky, we present Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, a smooth, golden elixir unlike any other. Subtle yet familiar flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale as it rests in the charred barrel. We attribute this to what the bourbon maker calls the “angel’s share”. Elegantly smooth and modestly carbonated, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale is a fine sipping ale with the distinctive nose of a well-crafted Kentucky bourbon.

A couple years’ ageing helped. Bourbon and mild roast nose. Though not thick, it’s a smooth mouthfeel with tons of foam. Bourbon and oak. A sipper.

Bottle:   Soft sweet Bourbon like nose, but moreso candied.   Sweet vanilla, marshmallow, graham cracker, but they’re all sweet.   Soft malty start, similar flavor profile as the nose suggested.   Simple bourbon like qualities, but no heat or much else to this beer.   Just a sweet somewhat malty beer.   Its like the base beer is non-existent or undetermined as all there exists is some sweet bourbon like flavors.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Pretty simple, sweet, and without much character.   Doesn’t taste bad or have anything off about it, but its fairly boring.

Bottle with friends. Golden orange appearance with a khaki head. Caramel, chewy oak, vanilla, some bourbon, and a bit of fruit. Apple, heavy oak, tannic flavor. Not very good.

Clear, pale amber, little lace. Earthy, mild nose. Light body, neutral mouthfeel, short, tasteless finish. More tart than bitter or sweet, Yeasty, unabashed bourbon character, alcoholic, not very malty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Good novelty beer with very distinct bourbon taste. Smooth mouthfeel and finish without the burn that typically accompanies bourbon.

On draft at George Keeley. Pours murky brown. Aroma is absolutely disgusting, mole, fermented vinegar, gross barrel. Taste is moldy, old, gross, in drinkable.

Hazy golden color, minimal white head. Coffee and whiskey nose. Aroma is bourbon, oak, some coffee and vanilla. Medium body, average carbonation. You can taste some alcohol too, which is good for this one.

Bottle. Smell and taste similar. Kinda plain for a bourbon cask ale. Was underwhelmed. Obviously still better than domestic lager

Tasted from bottle. Pours a clear orange amber with white head that fades quickly. Aroma is sweet, syrup, caramel, wood, bourbon. Taste is similar to nose with minimal to no bitterness. Very sweet tasting with maple syrup, caramel, bourbon, figs, toffee. Medium bodied. Not as balanced as I'd like. Sub par overall. Have had much better bourbon barrel beers. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
