Thanks to WhyBeNormal for putting this box in N00b BIF Round 3. Served in a SAVOR snifter.
Pour yields a brew that is a moderate-brown color with a thin tan head that fades into a thin collar. The nose is dominated by bourbon. Strong bourbon notes pervade, and only increase in intensity as the beer warms. Nice and fairly mellow, but Iíd like a bit more complexity here. The flavor is the same way, though there is a touch of caramel and brown sugar in the background. Medium body with lowish carbonation. A bit too hot in the finish. Not bad at all. Iíve got another that Iíll need to cellar for a bit to see if it mellows out.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A nice suprise from the 335 ml bottle, poured into a pint glass. It poured a nice golden color, with a white head that disapated quickly. Hardly any lacing at all. Aroma was of carmel and a just hint of the bourbon. Taste was of Malts and a hint of alcohol, bourbon and then a sweetness comes into play, like a dried cherry. Was slightly creamy with a medium body that makes this a very drinkable Ale. I will revisit this one

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: MAR 30, 2014 tap at Dash In - Small style quibble... if as the commercial description says this is their Kentucky Ale aged in bourbon barrels, then itís an amber ale. Anyway, it pours light amber, about the same shade as the stone, and has a small off-white head. Thereís a woody, bourbon aroma. The fairly light body has lots of smooth bourbon flavor. Itís sweet and smooth with not much going on besides the bourbon.
Rerate: I like this more than I did before. Smooth bourbon, vanilla notes. Pretty enjoyable.

2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
First a disclaimer: Iím not a big bourbon fan. Pours a light brown (almost an apple juice/cider look). Very pungent with an alcohol aroma (smells like a cheap bourbon really). Very thin without much carbonation. This isnít what I expected at all but itís not terrible. Iím sure people that love bourbon or whisky would really like this beer.

Pours clear amber into a tulip. White head crackles and quickly recedes leaving trailing lacing. Sweet simple syrup and bourbon aromas. Thin and sweet with sugar upfront followed by a mild bourbon and oak finish.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Had this on tap at Vintage Estate some months back and liked it enough to remember to pick up a bottle this last trip (yesterday)
Bottled version does not do my memory of it justice.
Appearance is just like someone splashed a few drops of Bourbon into a Bud. Sadly, the taste is pretty much like someone splashed a few drops of bourbon into a Bud light - or to be more accurate, probably itís the Lexington pale ale.
Thereís a vanilla, caramel, maltiness there, which I should like, given my proclivities. But, this is really not up to par with some of the heavier stuff. I guess itís a bit like the beers that put the fake lime or chili or whatever in it. Maybe this is a ballpark version of the Bourbon aged stuff that is out there. Though to be fair, there is a nice syrup quality to the mouthfeel and itís not a full-on fake flavor deal. Plus the high ABV is well-disguised, though also well-telegraphed by the bourbon taste. The aftertaste/finish is pleasing. Not as boozy a feel as youíd expect. Mellow.
Honestly the idea that someone just poured a light beer into a glass that still had some Kentucky bourbon in it is hard to shake or get past.
Not one Iíd get again. But not offensive in any way. The mellowness and lack of any real problems is what made me give it a b-. If youíre working your way through the bourbon-modified beers, this should go on your list.
