Bottle - pours light clear brown with a medium head that transforms into a steady ring around the glass (a snifter in this case). Has a strong bourbon smell even from a distance. Not terrible, but it tastes like watered down bourbon. Definitely a sipper.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Red amber pour with hardly any head. Aroma of bourbon & vanilla. Taste is heavy on vanilla, oak & bourbon. Mouth is pretty light. Completely clear in appearance. Leaves your mouth tingly. Iím not sure Iíd call this a beer, but it isnít too bad.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle bought at Cask and drunk at home. Very clear amber coloured with off white head that fades very quickly. Aroma is sweet, bit of the bourbon, vanilla and creamy. Some boozy sharpness. Taste is again sweet. I can see why lots of people are mentioning ice cream, but for me that is a positive. There is a nice hint of bourbon again, but it is mostly creamy. The finish is caramel malty and creamy. More vanilla too. Texture seems quite thin, but it is not unpleasant to drink. Can see why this divides opinion, but I come down firmly on the positive side. Doesnít seem that boozy, and the flavour is fairly one dimensional, but that one dimension is pretty nice.

bottle at azwine 9/13/11.
amber color...looks a little thin for 8%.
aromas of green spicy peppers, wet barrel, vanilla, bourbon and a ton of butterscotch.
the palate is rather sweet...or maybe not...just cloying, weird and almost artificial... reminds me of butterscotch vanilla ripple ice cream with a little kick of bourbon.
light bodied with prickly carbonation. meh.6/3/5/3/12

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Caramel orange in color with thin whitish head... Aroma of bourbon oak and sweet caramel... Flavor is sweet caramel candies, slight fruitiness, and notes of bourbon... Finish is slightly sweet, definitely hides the alcohol content extremely well... Shocked that this is not more highly rated, my only complaint is that it may be on the lower complexity end of the spectrum and may have less bourbon flavor than your typical bourbon aged beer, but I like that about this beer... De-freaking-licious!

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: AUG 29, 2012 May2010. a bit light (color and body) for the style, a decent light amber ale greatly improved with bourbon. The bourbon flavor was very much upfront but not overpowering or overly woody to knock you over the head. This would be a fantastic introductory beer for any drinkers that reject or assume they would reject a bourbon-aged beer. I gave a taste to several people in the standard beer-drinking group I was with and several ordered pints for themselves. granted, we had just visited a bourbon distillery the day before...
Aug12. Has a sour/sour mash component that could be very off-putting for some. This draft version is huge buttery hit.

Bottle thanks to bjohnston. Poured clear gold with a white head. Aroma was vanilla, caramel, Orange cream sickle, and grains. Flavor pretty much the same plus a butter type note. Body was full with low carbonation.

1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Amber color with thin white head. Aroma is some slight vanilla, a little medicinal. Flavor builds on that impression, reminds me of vanilla extract or oddly melted ice cream. Really, just not good, I would almost rather have a mass produced lager than this odd attempt at a bourbon flavored beer. Lacks flavor, depth and leaves an unpleasant aftertaste.

I received this as an extra in a trade. Poured into an Ommegang glass at fridge temperature.
A - This beer poured a dark golden color which was surprising. I expected dark brown but this is clearly a golden ale. A 2-Finger head was produced that was crystal clear and dissipated almost instantly. Thereís some nice bubbles on the swirl but, at 8%, no alcohol legs to speak of.
S - Thereís not a lot of smell to this. Clear Bourbon scent but itís very weak. Iím no getting much and am overall pretty disappointed with the scent. Smells like a BMC beer.
T - Immediately, Iím getting Wild Turkey or Makers Mark mixed with a glass of spring water. Itís really pretty nasty. Dry and roasted malts on the back of the tongue.
M - 80% carbonation on the mouth swish. Light-bodied and a mouth quenching whiskey linger.
O - This is flat out a drain pour. wow, what a disappointing beer.

12 oz bottle pours golden with a white head. Aroma of malt and of course the bourbon. Taste is bourbon, toffee and malts.
