On draught at One Eyes Jacks in Fairborn, OH. Very flavorful of oak with a vanilla finish. No head, darker amber color. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys a oak aged ale with a sweeter finish.

UPDATED: AUG 9, 2012 Draught via Habitat pours a butterscotch slightly murky brown. Little head. Aroma is bourbin. Taste is sweet with some malts and vanilla. Ok but thin and needs more IMO.

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Enjoyed on-tap @ Coles 735 MAIN in Lexington, KY for $6. Tapped from the Brown Wooden KBB Tap Handle w/ a Horse on the top into a 12oz Snifter Glass. Have enjoyed in bottle so wanted to give this version a try.
Aroma- Tons of alcohol, bourbon, light single malt aromas. Very clean.
Appearance- Received with no head at all. Has a deep golden/light copper body with decent clarity. Leaves a few suds behind.
Flavor- Starts off very sweet and then winds down to all malt and light bourbon. Very light and almost no bitterness.
Mouthfeel- Medium Bodied, Light-Medium Carbonation, Smooth, but VERY watered down... Not sure if there was a keg issue or just the way they do it in keg but mouthfeel wasn’t up to par.
Overall Impression- I HIGHLY recommend you enjoying this from a bottle. For some reason it was watered down on the mouthfeel which took away from this great brew. However, this was very nice in bottle.

I tried this on-tap at Conway and O’Rielly’s in Janesville, WI in mid 2012. Pours a golden amber color with a strong bourbon scent. Strong crisp taste of bourbon that is silky smooth that is barrel aged to perfection. I though this was a lot better than what the rating reflect.

near black pour. Watered down carbonated bourbon flavor with buttered popcorn and a bit of sour patch kids. Very sweet.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
It poured a cloudy copper color with an off-white head. The aroma was of fresh bourbon. The taste was of sweet caramel, some toffee and lots of bourbon. This was a very good bourbon barrel beer.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Liz. Pours clear orange amber with a slight, transient white head. Aroma is mostly bourbon/vanilla with a hint of oak. Med body. It’s rather sweet, with hints of treacle. The oak is identifiable, and the bourbon/vanilla is clearly present. Yet it is not a strongly flavored ale. Heat is marginally detectable. Finishes on the non-dry side. It has a caramel sugar candy aspect. But the oak offsets that. Really interesting and pretty tasty.

UPDATED: AUG 30, 2012 Aroma is bourbon and malts. The flavor is fruit, oak, dark fruit/raisins/prunes, a hint of tea, tobacco and a mix of tartness and some alcohol in the finish.

My current favorite beer. Very well balanced versus most other bourbon barrel beers. Nice on the palate, with a bourbon finish. Should be drank from a snifter for full effect and not overchilled. Many friends who do not consider themselves beer drinkers love this beer. Great change from the usual "heavier" bourbon barrel brews (stouts, porters).
