Award-winning Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale® is a unique sipping beer with the distinctive nose of a well-crafted bourbon. Our Kentucky Ale® is aged for up to six weeks in freshly decanted bourbon barrels from some of Kentucky’s finest distilleries. Subtle yet familiar flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale as it rests in the charred barrels. Pleasantly smooth and robust, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale may also be served as an aperitif or after-dinner drink. Launched in 2006, it has grown to become the flagship beer of the premier name in barrel-aged beers: Alltech Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company.

Bottle from Liz. Pours clear orange amber with a slight, transient white head. Aroma is mostly bourbon/vanilla with a hint of oak. Med body. It’s rather sweet, with hints of treacle. The oak is identifiable, and the bourbon/vanilla is clearly present. Yet it is not a strongly flavored ale. Heat is marginally detectable. Finishes on the non-dry side. It has a caramel sugar candy aspect. But the oak offsets that. Really interesting and pretty tasty.

UPDATED: AUG 30, 2012 Aroma is bourbon and malts. The flavor is fruit, oak, dark fruit/raisins/prunes, a hint of tea, tobacco and a mix of tartness and some alcohol in the finish.

My current favorite beer. Very well balanced versus most other bourbon barrel beers. Nice on the palate, with a bourbon finish. Should be drank from a snifter for full effect and not overchilled. Many friends who do not consider themselves beer drinkers love this beer. Great change from the usual "heavier" bourbon barrel brews (stouts, porters).

12oz bottle from Andersons in Sylvania. Murky orange pour with little head. Aroma is big sweet sugar, vanilla and bourbon (shocking). Taste is caramel corn candy and butterscotch. Thin to medium palate. Not horrible, but not my thing.

Dark, delicious beer. Can taste the bourbon and finishes sweet, like caramel. Highly recommended.

Sampled at 2012 Indianapolis Brew Ha Ha. I liked this beer. A little different. Lots of bourbon flavor. A little spicy, smokey, with a strong alcohol finish.

Crazy beer. Dark orange pour. Can definitely taste the Bourbon. But good. Carmel and sweet taste to top it off. Could drink one in a session but interesting good ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark orange. Vanilla, whisky, caramel, toffee and yeasts make up the flavor. Really good on tap, even better in a sniffer! Best of all, it’s smooth and creamy!

Tap at the Gingerman. Pours pale golden brown. Nose of caramel and bourbon. Tastes of bourbon through and through. Also vanilla, caramel, oak, and a lot like cream soda. It sweet but not cloying. Interesting but one glass is enough
