3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: AUG 2, 2014 Travis brought this one to the Memorial Day Party. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a caramel-amber color with a large foamy orange-white head that left good lacing. The aroma was tangy and tart with strong brown sugar and bourbon and a hint of vanilla. The flavor was tart and tangy with light grapefruit up front followed by bourbon, vanilla and nut. The finish was long, and tart with pine, bourbon and brown sugar lingering. Medium body. Interesting.

I won’t buy this again. Lets face it... buy some bourbon, buy some beer, combine you have this beer. Why waste your money on them doing the combo?

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sampled at Brewery Creek U.S. event @ VCBW. Pours a clear gold with a minimal head. Aroma is predominantly oak, bourbon, and vanilla. Taste is much the same...it really tastes like a very generic ale that has a ton of bourbon character in it. Finish is boozy and unrefined. Utterly one dimensional...I guess any beer tastes better when barrel aged.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
The aroma is booze, smoke, and vanilla from the oak barrels. It pours clear golden with a light white head. The flavors of bourbon and vanilla dominate, without a huge alchohol bite. The body is medium, smooth, easy-drinking for the bourbon barrels.

On Draught at the Beer Cellar Indianapolis. You can really smell the bourbon in the pour. Tastes amazing and the bourbon really comes through. golden, minimal head, lightly sour, medium sweetness, light body. This is a good beer, especially on draught.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
[335ml bottle, courtesy of Bullit] Clear gold pour, with a thin lacing. Looks very flat however. Quite a vinous nose, with some bourbon sweetness and woodyness. Unfortunately quite watery on the palate, the whole thing reminds me of coconut milk. Very strange. Really doesn’t taste anywhere near 8%, and unfortunately doesn’t taste nice

7 May 2011, bottle at one of cgarvieuk’s legendary tastings. yellow, clear, no bubbles. odd aroma. mix of sweet white wine, macaroons, alcohol, and saki or coconut milk. full/med body and faintly fizzy and slightly syrupy. loads of vanilla and syrup. not much, if any, oak. i could drink this but it is kind of sickly.

Pours a clear amber color. Aroma is of Bourbon big time with some oak, a little vanilla, and malts. Taste is of Bourbon, oak, and vanilla. Leaves a big Bourbon finish. Different, but I wish it was a little thicker.
