COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Award-winning Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale® is a unique sipping beer with the distinctive nose of a well-crafted bourbon. Our Kentucky Ale® is aged for up to six weeks in freshly decanted bourbon barrels from some of Kentucky’s finest distilleries. Subtle yet familiar flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale as it rests in the charred barrels. Pleasantly smooth and robust, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale may also be served as an aperitif or after-dinner drink. Launched in 2006, it has grown to become the flagship beer of the premier name in barrel-aged beers: Alltech Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company.

Draft. Regular tan ale color. No head or smell. Taste is smooth and crispy at first but then the vanilla bourbon aftertaste hits immediately. Not too boozy tasting. Ok ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz. bottle pours a clear red/amber color with small white head. Smells of beer but tastes like marzipan candy. Aroma is full of butter, sugar, vanilla, oak and caramel. Bourbon is barely noticeable. Taste is sweet, and body is medium. Alcohol is well hidden. Mouthfeel is slightly creamy, without too much carbonation. Not a great beer, but very different from anything else Ive tried so far.

Enjoyable beer. Pours a light brown with a moderate head. Notes of oak and vanilla. Medium malty sweetness, light bitterness, and notes of oak and vanilla in the flavor as well. Finishes with a pleasant alcohol warming.

UPDATED: JAN 31, 2013 Big disappointment. Very mild and confused. It has some of the sweet qualities of bourbon - vanilla and coconut, and odd cereal - with no character or heat. yikes, steer clear

UPDATED: APR 18, 2014 4pack purchased in Louisville KY, 09/2012. Very sweet, thick and up-front bourbon, almost no alcohol, with all-pervasive vanilla, nut(meg) and caramel. Like drinking liquid toffee (Werthers Echte), which is hard to finish a whole pint of. Flawed as a beer, makes sense as a dessert, or even better: as the richest part of a dessert when shared. Not sure where the other 3 bottles went, was finished with this very specific brand of artificial bourbon beer in a few gulps. Enjoyable as a representative of the large kitsch department in US brewing, that will cater to the fans of any taste to the extreme, losing sight of balance or grace. Probably addictive like cheap candy you know is bad for you.

Pours amber with thin white head. Nose is boozy with light toast. Medium bodied with somewhat flat bread malt moving to a delicious sweet bourbon finish. nice but would like more character.

On tap at CBF. Poured an orange gold color with a thin, white film that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of vanilla, bourbon, citrus fruits, and buttery malts. Sweet, honey, vanilla, citrus fruits, grains, raisins, and bourbon. Sweet but odd.

A dark amber orange brew with brass tints in the glass. The head is thick and off white. This smells very sweet with caramel and corn from the bourbon woodiness. There isn’t much to smell from the beer as the barrel aging dominates. The taste is like lame cheap bourbon poured into a high abv amber ale. Not much in the way of hops. The body is lifeless. Notes of caramel come through in the end along with wet cardboard and some hay. This is a train wreck.
