Really? 3.1? Come on now, even if you don’t like bourbon, you can surely appreciate how much flavour they were able to cram into such a light, easy drinking beer. The aroma is sweet, dominated by bourbon, surprise. The flavour is great, like the aroma it is sweet and dominated by bourbon, vanilla and caramel are the stars, there is a very VERY light bitter note of hops, barely noticeable, the finish is creamy vanilla, slightly dry, and absolutely awesome. Maybe it’s because I love bourbon almost as much as i love beer. But this stuff I thought to be absolutely fantastic, the finish is great.

3.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Starts out with vanilla and finishes with a hint of bourbon. Overall a very easy drinking lighter ale with a fair amount of flavor. The nice thing with this ale is its drinkability. Very nice brew.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Some vanilla and hot alcohol aroma. Up front the flavour is quite sweet, then some dryness followed by the wood notes and then bourbon which is almost a hint coconut too. Different, but not really that appealing.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Sampled at GABF on 9/16/2010. This blond ale pours a light gold color from the tap. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and sweet with atouch of caramel. A light to medium bodied golden ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are slightly herbal. Nice balance. Good carbonation. Kind of light tasting, even for a blond ale. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Served in a mini-snifter. Clear caramel colored liquid with a very fine head of white foam. Nose faintly of vanilla. This beer has a very definite bourbon quality. Taste is mild malt, almost no hop presence, more of the smooth vanilla and bourbon-ish notes. Body was rather thin, this was the most disconcerting part of this beer. Seemed watery. Finish was also rather blah. Overall, for some reason, I found this beer disappointing.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear, light gold pour. Prevalent bourbon bouquet. Medium body, sweet and alcoholic with expected overtones of vanilla and oak and the classic taste of bourbon. Malt is somewhat reminiscent of the treacle/diacetyl notes one associates with a Scotch Ale. Delightful brew that--from reading other reviews--I expected to be cloying. Happily, it cleverly bent the conventions of an American Strong and a Scotch Ale, resulting in an original and intriguing drink.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Beautifully served on draft in a tulip glass, this unique beer smells and tastes of a combination of mediocre beer with mediocre bourbon. Definitely something to try if you’re in Kentucky, but after the novelty wears off you find yourself wishing for something better.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma of cheap, cheap bourbon and some caramel malt. Golden orange in color with no head. Taste of some crappy bourbon followed with chocolate and earth notes. Finishes with a bit of the stomach churning of bad bourbon. If you want a beer that tastes like cheap bourbon, this is the closest I have had.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Enjoyed from a 12oz bottle in an elongated tulip glass. The beer pours a clear light to medium amber hue, with a very faint white head. The nose initially shows a nice vanilla note, before some woodiness that, while noticeable, is hardly overwhelming. The palate contains a quite pleasing melange of malt, fruit, and spice flavors. Again, vanilla comes through in a way that seems more the result of exposure to oak than to artificial extracts. More subtle notes of medium English crystal malts come through, before a mid- to end-palate transition to what seem to be a cross between plumy esters and more remnants of oak exposure. As one might expect with an aged beer, hops are nowhere to be found, almost to a point in which the beer is too sweet. Alcohol is deftly hidden. Overall, enjoyable, complex, and nicely conceived.

2.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz Gift bottle - Toffee liquid with off white head. Vague smoke on nose, mostly bourbon notes (Not Woodford, the wino-killing kind) and some sort of wax. Palate is a ton better, creamy apples not unlike apple crisp.
