Trade with drowland - thanks! 12 oz bottle - pours a brilliant dark copper with a thin white head. Aroma is that of bottom shelf bourbon - a hint of rye. Flavor has a bourbon essence permeating throughout, some vanilla notes, and some scotch and water essence....like how it tastes when the ice has all melted. Mouthfeel is a bit thinner than the flavor would suggest. Usually not a barrel aged fan - but this one goes down nice.

Pours amber with minimal white head. Bourbon scent is very strong. Flavor is also dominated by bourbon. Doesn’t have as much bite as could be expected, but also lacks any other real flavor.

While slightly pricey for a beer that has better beers in the same style, this is a very tasty beer when you really want a bourbon on the rocks. Slightly sweet, never disappointing, and makes a perfect sipping beer.

Some odd notes. Strong vanilla tones. Thick on the tongue but easy to drink. Overall, a good and rich beer.

1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
Bottle shared by atom. I saw bourbon barrel ale and I assumed this was going to be something darker in color, but his pours clear and golden in color with a small white head. Head quickly dissipates to some sparse bubbles around the neck. It looks nice for something like an ipa, but this is not what I would expect from something aged in bourbon barrels. Pretty harsh, and boozy aroma, with some vanilla, oak, and a bit of chocolate appearing. Too much like bourbon, and not enough like a beer in the aroma for this to be pleasing. If I was drinking whiskey this would be nicer. Very thin on the palate. Grains, some vanilla, a bit of chocolate, but nothing much else is present with this. Really watery and just plain bland.

On tap at Shallo’s in Indianapolis and from a bottle on New Year’s. Aroma and Taste are both primarily bourbon - oak/sweet vanilla. This is a good thing as far as I’m concerned. I also noticed some caramel, but this was exactly what I expected based on the label. At 8%, I had anticipated more of a bite or warming from the alcohol but didn’t notice it. Overall, I enjoy the as a scotch/whisky/bourbon fan, I really enjoyed finding similar flavors in an ale. Great for sipping in the winter when I need something other than a Stout or Porter, but not something I would want more than two of in a session.

amazing smell, and sweet tasting and good in most respects, but too light, and lacks strong enough of taste to be a really good beer.

12oz bottle. Red tinged orange with a white ring of head that remains after the first few seconds of the pour. Kernel double caramel popcorn, bubblegum, weet vanilla, bourbon although grain alcohol is also very present. Sorta like screech / watered down bad bourbon, sweet and thin, moderate carbonation, bit of corn alcohol, little dry and vegetbly on the end, not overly complex and lacks depth. Not good.

2.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle. Pours light orange with thin white head. Looks like your regular macro in the glass. Aroma of vanilla, bourbon, and buttered popcorn. Taste of vanilla, bourbon, and stale beer. Just like what a macro beer would taste like if you poured a shot of bourbon in it. Not done well at all.
