COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Aleô With a little creative curiosity, we used spent bourbon casks, fresh from decanting, and filled them with our very own Kentucky Ale. From barrels that once held the finest bourbons of Kentucky, we present Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, a smooth, golden elixir unlike any other. Subtle yet familiar flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale as it rests in the charred barrel. We attribute this to what the bourbon maker calls the ďangelís shareĒ. Elegantly smooth and modestly carbonated, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale is a fine sipping ale with the distinctive nose of a well-crafted Kentucky bourbon.

Bottle. This was a nice gift, so I feel bad for rating it so low. What sounds like a great idea, leaves a lot to be desired in the final product. To make it simple, thereís too much bourbon in my beer.

12oz bottle. Pours a reddish / amber with an off-white head, that disappears quickly. Aromas of caramelized sugar, apple cider, definite bourbon, oak. First I can honestly say Iíve never tasted a beer or smelled a beer like this. Itís pretty unique. The initial taste is sweet bourbon, but without any of the heavy corn notes I usually taste (and dislike) in most bourbons. I donít really get too much oak, but definite caramel, a little bubble gum, dried fruit. Big caramel in the finish. While itís definitely not a favourite, I appreciate the effort to make something different. Worth trying if you can find it.

Amber pour with an off-white head. If you are a fan of bourbon, youíll love the aroma here-bourbon, vanilla, wood. Taste reflects the aroma. I liked this beer and would like to try it again.

Bottle bonused in a trade with phaleslu, thanks Peter! Pours a medium orange-amber with a 1 finger off white head that fades to a thick ring and skim pretty quickly. Aroma is pretty big on caramel, light toasted nuts, vanilla, oaky bourbon, maple syrup, creme brule, dry leaves and sweet straw, not a very strong aroma, but fairly complex. Flavor is caramel, toffee nuts, vanilla, light bourbon, straw, maple syrup, fairly strong mineral notes and light, sweet tobacco. Palate is suprisingly quite light bodied and dry throughout with a very heavy and sharp carbonation that really cuts into the flavor experience, but the brew would probably be a little more awkward without it. This beer has a nice, sweet, pleasant aroma, but the flavor and palate donít live up to it. On a side note itís really hard to believe that this stuff is 8.8%abv with such a light body.

Poured from bottle. Amazing nose of brown sugar, vanilla, toast, and oak; this is easily one of the best smelling beers Iíve ever had. It has a bourbon coloration with very little head. Taste is savory; while there are toffee and sugar notes, thereís no sweetness to the beer and it has an almos brothy overtone. Almost no carbonation leaves a somewhat flat mouthfeel. An odd mixed bag; Iíd rather smell it than drink it.

$3 / single 12oz bottle - Hmmm...bit confusing to rate this one. I really like the bourbon aroma coming off this--surprisingly strong. Nice amber appearance too, but Iím not sure if bourbon flavor goes well with ale. I honestly just donít know if this works because this is the only beer I have tried that has has attempted to meld the two distinct flavors. Iím giving it more than a passing grade as of now--until further tastings. Very unique beer.

Bottle: The aroma is equal parts butterscotch and vanilla. It pours a transparent golden-orange with a small off-white head that quickly fades to a thin ring around the edges of the glass. The flavor stars with light-moderate butterscotch. The finish has light vanilla, a faint fruit, and a hint of bourbon. The butterscotch lingers in the aftertaste. I donít like butterscotch. Light-medium bodied with somewhat lively carbonation.

One of my favorites. An incredibly smooth beer with the perfect amount of bourbon taste.

Bottle from a trade with phaleslu. Pours clear amber color with white head. Aromas of bourbon, vanilla, oak. Iím also getting some coconut; weird. The usual flavors from a bourbon barrel; bourbon, vanilla and some oak. If you star with a beer that isnít so good, barrel aging can only improve it so much. Medium body with average carbonation. Not bad for what it is. Thanks Peter.

slight oak to the aroma but not much else. rather pale body with a white head. taste is disappointing, just a slightly sweet finish. I think i may classify this as a waste of bourbon barrels
