Bottle. Pours a hazy copper color with not much head. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, oak, and caramel. Taste follows the noseperfectly. Very creamy and enjoyable beer. I like bourbon aged beers, so this was right up my alley. Not sure why there isn’t more love for this one, but everyone has different tastes.

Pours clear copper with a small ring of white fizz. Smells a bit like bourbon, not much else. Taste is cloying bourbon sweetness. Full-bodied with a slick texture and soft mouth-carbonation, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale finishes with a cloying sweetness that doesn’t go away. I do not recommend this.

On tap in branded snifter. Red amber pour, no head by the time it got to me. Lots of nose of bourbon, and malt way in the back. Taste is surprisingly good. Cream, vanilla, booze, bourbon, oak, caramel malts Vanilla on the finish. Really nice beer.

On tap at Melt Bar & Grilled - Independence.(With Dan) Copper colored body, small white head. Strong bourbon aroma with vanilla, peach, alcohol. Taste of bourbon, oak, caramel. Sweet and alcoholic finish. Seems a bit unbalanced to me, the bourbon really stands out. It grew on me.

Tap...this tasted like a homebrew gone wrong...sweet cloying weird flavors that got worse with every sip. One for the drain.

Flaska@Monks Sveavägen. Bärnstensfärgad vätska med vitt skum. Doft av persikor och syrlig passionsfrukt. Ganska beskedlig beska. Mycket tropiska frukter och avslut med fatlagringston. Lite väl söt för min smak.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle from a mix-a-six at Mariano’s (figured I’d finally give this a try). Pours an amber color, smallish off-white head, minimal retention. Nose is more brown sugar and dried fruit (apples, dates, figs) than booze, but there is a slightly detectable Bourbon note in there. Mouth is medium bodied, somewhat sweet, vanilla, dates, marshmallow, some of the whiskey again detectable, but not enough for a beer that advertises Bourbon in the name. In all fairness this isn’t terrible, but when I am drinking something that claims to be aged in whiskey barrels -- and I live in Chicago, home to Greg Hall and the grandaddy of barrel-aged beers (Goose Island’s world-renowned Bourbon County Stout) -- I am going to be extremely critical. I wasn’t expecting anything mindblowing, but this really was an underwhelming brew. Glad I didn’t buy 6 of em.
