Award-winning Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale® is a unique sipping beer with the distinctive nose of a well-crafted bourbon. Our Kentucky Ale® is aged for up to six weeks in freshly decanted bourbon barrels from some of Kentucky’s finest distilleries. Subtle yet familiar flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale as it rests in the charred barrels. Pleasantly smooth and robust, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale may also be served as an aperitif or after-dinner drink. Launched in 2006, it has grown to become the flagship beer of the premier name in barrel-aged beers: Alltech Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company.

Copper pour. Boozey , some caramel, burnt oak. More bubbly than I anticipated. Sweet. Almost like ginger ale. Not bad but a bit lackluster ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz bottle, 10/3/15. Decent-to-light aroma of malty sweetness and some light barrel notes. Flavor is along the same lines. Light burn on the mouthfeel, which is solid, but not better than that.. Overall, this one is not bad, but not special, but at it’s price point I can certainly seem the appeal.

On tap at Bar Symon, Dulles. Bold amber body with slight head. Nose is sweet, vanilla, bourbon. Taste is malts, fruits, sweet, candy and licorice definitely, and lots of fruits. Kicks in a bit at the end. Too subdued probably and not ambitious enough.

I poured it from the bottle into a glass. It pours a ruby color with a decent white head and some lacing. The aroma is bourbon, sweet corn, and bread. The taste is sour, bourbon, and corn. You get a little of the bourbon burn with some sweetness and some sour. There’s a nice warming quality to it. I thought this was nicely done.

Bottle from Seijo Ishi store. Light bourbon nose -- a waft, really, nothing more. Also some sugary caramel aromas and small bit of vanilla. Deep orange/amber color. Sweet and (barrel) sour initial, light caramel, butter, and vanilla. Thin-medium body. Thin bourbon, thin malt. Subtle nose and weak flavors. I was hoping for a little more.

Very rarely are things exactly what they say they are and nothing more. This is that. The description I got was "Smooth Vanilla and Oak flavors." Obvious vagueness aside, this is just that and absolutely nothing else. This tastes sort of like a barrel aged malt liquor. Not in a bad way at all, but in a way where this kind of tastes like they took a very strong minimal beer and aged it/flavored it until it was a thing that they could describe using flowery language. I’m not not a fan, but to say I’m smitten would be a gross overstatement.

From NOTES. Poured into a snifter at the Ginger Man NYC. I want to LOVE this beer, but I just don’t. Very nice bourbon flavor, not overpowering but subtle and complimentary. My biggest gripe is the somewhat watery mouthfeel.

Pours hazy orange with no head. Nose is sour. Aromas are malt, rotten fruits and bourbon. Low carbonation, light body. Long sour finish. Not my stuff. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
