COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Award-winning Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale® is a unique sipping beer with the distinctive nose of a well-crafted bourbon. Our Kentucky Ale® is aged for up to six weeks in freshly decanted bourbon barrels from some of Kentucky’s finest distilleries. Subtle yet familiar flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale as it rests in the charred barrels. Pleasantly smooth and robust, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale may also be served as an aperitif or after-dinner drink. Launched in 2006, it has grown to become the flagship beer of the premier name in barrel-aged beers: Alltech Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company.

This beer is way too sweet in my opinion. That is about the only thing that stands out about this beer. Malty Sweet. Way too much sweetness and not enough balance to be classified as an amber ale.

appearance: chestnut brown, short soapy light tan head. aroma: sweet caramel, toffee, burnt brown sugar, bourbon, vanilla, and the deepest hate. taste: tastes infected; notes of bourbon sweetness are awash in a phenolic, yeasty sourness--there are attempts at vanilla and caramel, all of which are subverted. finish: lingering sour, boozy heat that makes me want to punch myself in the face. notes: Quality control went right out with this bottle. Drain pour.

Bottle from local Super U in Fouesnant. Hazy caramel with almost no head. Very sweet toasted malts, shot of bourbon, hazelnuts, bag of sugar, tea and toast. Quite sweet, moldy and sickly vanilla/nuttines with a sour bend. Full body, almost no carbonation. Total failure. Very messy palate, too sweet and lot of off tastes. Looks sad, smells dirty and tastes even worse. Drain poor.

UPDATED: JUL 23, 2016 Really good. Dark amber with malt maize and caramel bourbon hints and tastes. Great strength and extremely moreish. Will definitely try again. Probably one of best bottled ales I?ve drunk. Gets even better second time. Very smooth.

12 oz bottle. Dark to light amber and clear appearance with a small, diminishing head. Aroma of dark fruits, oak, vanilla and a touch of bourbon.

Pours deep amber / brown with off-white head. Nose: Sweet malt, maize, butter, dark honey, caramel, bourbon, vanilla. Taste & palate: Caramel, bourbon, malt, slightly sweet, low bitterness. Medium rich body. Quite rich carbonation. Long, malty and bourbonny aftertaste with a bit of spiciness. The bourbon really shines through, in a good way. A bourbon charmer and a typical "love it or hate it" beer. Probably not for the IPA fanatics. I love it.

Strong beer, but not overpowering, good flavor that didn’t taste artificial to me. Would drink again.

12oz bottle on 21st May 2016 into a Corsendonk glass on my daughters patio in California. Murky dark orange with a beige unlasting head. A bit disappointed with this to be honest, there was a trace of Bourbon esters in the aftertaste but otherwise I thought this bland and uninteresting for a so called barrel-aged beer of 8.2%ABV.
