COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Award-winning Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale® is a unique sipping beer with the distinctive nose of a well-crafted bourbon. Our Kentucky Ale® is aged for up to six weeks in freshly decanted bourbon barrels from some of Kentucky’s finest distilleries. Subtle yet familiar flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale as it rests in the charred barrels. Pleasantly smooth and robust, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale may also be served as an aperitif or after-dinner drink. Launched in 2006, it has grown to become the flagship beer of the premier name in barrel-aged beers: Alltech Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company.

Bottle from Liz. Pours clear orange amber with a slight, transient white head. Aroma is mostly bourbon/vanilla with a hint of oak. Med body. It’s rather sweet, with hints of treacle. The oak is identifiable, and the bourbon/vanilla is clearly present. Yet it is not a strongly flavored ale. Heat is marginally detectable. Finishes on the non-dry side. It has a caramel sugar candy aspect. But the oak offsets that. Really interesting and pretty tasty.

12 oz. bottle, pours pale golden with a white head. Aroma of cider, bourbon and apple. Flavour is heavy on bourbon, citrus and apple. Very oaky and alcoholic finish. Pretty thin and uncomplex. Decent.

Sweet buttery bourbon aroma. Soft and mellow. Good malty body, good balance, easy to drink. Touch sweet and slick.

Draft. Tried the other two brews from this maker to compare to this at the end. I like bourbon and barrel aged brews that are mostly stouts. This clearly is a different taste due to the fact that they used their ale as the base and the medium fizzy body and texture. Very interesting and good.

Bottle poured a clear amber with a lingering off white head. Aromas of bourbon, oak, vanilla and light carmel. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a smooth finish. Flavors of bourbon, oak, vanilla, carmel and light fruittiness with a smooth lingering bourbon finish.

A beautiful orange cognac ale with a thin white head. In aroma, light peanuty malt, with bourbon infused butter pecans, interesting. In mouth, a smooth sweet buttered up nuts, like a liqueur, but a bit thin and simple. On tap at Meadhall, Oct. 10 2011.
