Award-winning Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale® is a unique sipping beer with the distinctive nose of a well-crafted bourbon. Our Kentucky Ale® is aged for up to six weeks in freshly decanted bourbon barrels from some of Kentucky’s finest distilleries. Subtle yet familiar flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale as it rests in the charred barrels. Pleasantly smooth and robust, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale may also be served as an aperitif or after-dinner drink. Launched in 2006, it has grown to become the flagship beer of the premier name in barrel-aged beers: Alltech Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company.

Here’s the deal, I drank it from a growler because the growler dude was raving about it. Admittedly, I’m not a whiskey man. I am a beer man. This beer tasted like bourbon mixed with club soda. Tastes nothing like beer. Tastes like watered down bourbon. I drank the whole growler anyway tho and I’m drunk as a smug sloth so take it for what it’s worth. You daft cockm

Bottle 33ml, a clear amber beer and medium head. Nose is on blond caramel and oak. Taste is sweet, aroma is on oak, biscuit, toasted grain, fermented vanilla, butter touch acetylide ? Very pleasant and easy drinkable, finish still on oak.

On tap at World of Beer (Charlottesville, VA). Coconut aromas, caramel. Clear amber with a fairly lasting white head. A little sweet, caramel, toffee, toast, light coffee. Medium-full bodied, light booze.

On tap at Alltech brewery/ distillery tour, Lexington, KY, 8.5.16. Clear dark gold with a white head. Vanilla and floral aroma, alcoholic and sweet taste with a sticky mouthfeel. Light body, bitter finish, quite refreshing although alcoholic.

I am really surprised, it feels like you are having a bourbon, I really like it and I will have it again.

I know I’ve had this before. Rating must have gotten lost. Wine Warehouse, Bottle. Clear amber, no head. Aroma of apple cider, perhaps bourbon (but it sure isn’t strong). Taste is sweet.... raisins, caramel, earthiness (dirt). It’s fine. Nothing outstanding.

For dude’s with zero hair on their balls this beer sucks but for a true beer drinker this beer is Heavenly. Outstanding golden-orange, romantically sweet, and yet full flavored and extremely tasty and smooth. First sniff I thought I was drinking a Boilermaker. First sip was floral, sweet, and oh so smooth. Outstanding brew. Very impressed.

Amazing how they got all the classic flavors of bourbon into this beer! Caramel, oak, vanilla, etc. - all there! Super smooth and just a little creamy, this beer is both easily approachable and sophisticated at the same time...

appearance: chestnut brown, short soapy light tan head. aroma: sweet caramel, toffee, burnt brown sugar, bourbon, vanilla, and the deepest hate. taste: tastes infected; notes of bourbon sweetness are awash in a phenolic, yeasty sourness--there are attempts at vanilla and caramel, all of which are subverted. finish: lingering sour, boozy heat that makes me want to punch myself in the face. notes: Quality control went right out with this bottle. Drain pour.

Bottle from local Super U in Fouesnant. Hazy caramel with almost no head. Very sweet toasted malts, shot of bourbon, hazelnuts, bag of sugar, tea and toast. Quite sweet, moldy and sickly vanilla/nuttines with a sour bend. Full body, almost no carbonation. Total failure. Very messy palate, too sweet and lot of off tastes. Looks sad, smells dirty and tastes even worse. Drain poor.

UPDATED: JUL 23, 2016 Really good. Dark amber with malt maize and caramel bourbon hints and tastes. Great strength and extremely moreish. Will definitely try again. Probably one of best bottled ales I?ve drunk. Gets even better second time. Very smooth.
