Award-winning Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale® is a unique sipping beer with the distinctive nose of a well-crafted bourbon. Our Kentucky Ale® is aged for up to six weeks in freshly decanted bourbon barrels from some of Kentucky’s finest distilleries. Subtle yet familiar flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale as it rests in the charred barrels. Pleasantly smooth and robust, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale may also be served as an aperitif or after-dinner drink. Launched in 2006, it has grown to become the flagship beer of the premier name in barrel-aged beers: Alltech Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company.

Pours a hazy amber with a thin white head. Decent retention, minimal lacing. Smells boozy, lemon grass, wood. Honestly smells more like liquor than it does beer but it’s not necessarily off-putting. Taste is odd. A weird malty flavor that is hard to pin down, a little bitterness, and a faint burn from the alcohol. Taste is very different than the aroma would let on. The maltiness is akin to a Marzen but it has a weird twang to it. Mouthfeel is crisp, a little on the light side. This beer is.......interesting. Not really sure how I would sum this one up besides interesting. I love Bourbon but I’m not really getting that from this beer.

From NOTES. Poured into a snifter at the Ginger Man NYC. I want to LOVE this beer, but I just don’t. Very nice bourbon flavor, not overpowering but subtle and complimentary. My biggest gripe is the somewhat watery mouthfeel.

Pours hazy orange with no head. Nose is sour. Aromas are malt, rotten fruits and bourbon. Low carbonation, light body. Long sour finish. Not my stuff. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Had this the other day and loved it. Poured in a nice wide mouthed glass to let the the aroma out. The taste had a faint bourbon hint, with some slight oak after taste. Loved it, and highly recommend. As stated it is a sipping beer, alcohol content is over 8%

Bottle. Clean, amber in colour with a small head. In aroma caramel malt, bourbon, oak. In taste malty, nutty with vanilla and coconut. Pleasant warming from alcohol, medium bitterness. Aftertaste is bourbon flavour. Really smooth, silky. Nice beer.

Draft at Dulles. Pours deep amber with a quickly fading head. Aromas were bready and alcoholic. Similar flavors that were really bourbon and wood but not much else. Just didn’t please me like I expected

Had a sample at Indiana, very boozie, the taste lingers in you mouth for a while, the flavor was a bit harsh but I liked ,

Very enjoyable beer. The bourbon barrel never really came through for me but it did have a nice vanilla undertone. Even though the bourbon didn't come out, it's still a solid ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
