COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Award-winning Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale® is a unique sipping beer with the distinctive nose of a well-crafted bourbon. Our Kentucky Ale® is aged for up to six weeks in freshly decanted bourbon barrels from some of Kentucky’s finest distilleries. Subtle yet familiar flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale as it rests in the charred barrels. Pleasantly smooth and robust, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale may also be served as an aperitif or after-dinner drink. Launched in 2006, it has grown to become the flagship beer of the premier name in barrel-aged beers: Alltech Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company.

festival of barrel aged beers 2004. bourbon aroma, brown bourbon-like color, tastes like bourbon. is this beer? i guess it is,since it’s here. its slightly sweetish aftertaste reminded me more of southern comfort than jim beam or jack daniels.

2005 Knoxville Brewer’s Jam. Clear, copper color with a white, frothy head. Some malt and hop aroma, and plenty of whisky notes. Not much of a beer flavor, but you can taste the whisky. Add a little more malt to the flavor, and this beer is amazing.

Bottle. Poured a very small off-white head that mostly diminished, very sparse lacing, visible carbonation, transparent, and an orange hue. Nose was vanilla, massive amount of boubon and some smokiness. Flavor was somewhat sweet, vanilla, thin, and definitely bourbon. Mouthfeel was vinuous and thin. Light-medium body. This reminded me more of a mixed drink with bourbon and it did of a beer. Interesting brew.

Amber coloured beer with a thick white head. Deep strong bourbony aroma, toasted oak, caramel and heavy rich whisky. More bourbon character than any other bourbon beer I’ve ever had. It even seems to smell more alcoholic than the 4.5% ABV that is listed for it. Flavour is all bourbon up front, with a kiss of light cherry and some light caramel maltiness. Vanilla and oak finish that lasts forever. Very intense and comes across like a chilled, carbonated glass of bourbon. Some orangey flavour through the finish. It’s very intense, but it’s tough to finish. Too much bourbon character for such a light-bodied ale to handle.

Thank you Moejuck for this nice surprise. Third rating today with his name attached to the rating. Light amber color with with little head, and no yeast content. Intense aroma of bourbon, vanilla, (potatoes) and malt. Not too much in the flavor but borbon, lasha, all in a very thin bodied beer. Interesting, but just because you throw a beer in a bourbon barrell it doesn’t mean it’s going to be great.

This ale poured a amber colour with not much of a head at all. To the nose there was scents of bourbon, butter and alcohol. First sip was buttery with smoke flavour. Notes of whiskey, buttered veggies and ???. Almost an oily mouthfeel. The finnish is thick and full of bourbon flavour.

Hardly an amber.. Orange, honey colored. Minimal lacing, next to no head. Aroma of sweet molasses, bourbon. Great beer for a whisky lover, strong bourbon undertones. Not thick enough,.. somewhat watery. High drinkability.

Pours a golden amber with little to not head retention. Aroma is the standout quality here with a subdued bourbon character that doesn’t go burning my nose hairs and is a nice crisp sweetness. Flavor falls quite flat though. Nothing but bourbon is going on. Very thin body that almost feels watered down. The beer’s like drinking a bourbon mixed with a lot of seltzer water, and I’m mostly okay with that.

12oz a bonus from someone a little ways back. Pours amber with a tan ring. Nose is sweet and bourbonny with some vanilla. Taste has some vanilla but the burn is too high for the weak taste. Or maybe the festina lente is sticking with me.

Bottle Pours a clear amber with a thin deminishing off white head. Laces fairly well. Aroma is of whisky, spice, and vanilla. Has a good carbonation. The flavor is like a whisky with carbonation. Has a medium body. The texture is slick. A decent finish with a good aftertaste. This is really like a sipping beer. Not to be rushed. Different but not bad. They really hit the bourbon barrel thing well. A good sipping beer on a cold night.
