Award-winning Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale® is a unique sipping beer with the distinctive nose of a well-crafted bourbon. Our Kentucky Ale® is aged for up to six weeks in freshly decanted bourbon barrels from some of Kentucky’s finest distilleries. Subtle yet familiar flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale as it rests in the charred barrels. Pleasantly smooth and robust, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale may also be served as an aperitif or after-dinner drink. Launched in 2006, it has grown to become the flagship beer of the premier name in barrel-aged beers: Alltech Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company.

Pours amber with a nice amount of head, aroma is sweet malt and bourbon, taste is similar, easier to drink than expected

Clear amber body with a small white head. Aroma of vanilla, bourbon and malt. Odd flavor - malty, slightly grainy, faint alcohol, light bourbon. Palate is medium bodied with average carbonation. Overall, this beer is just a little different - I enjoyed it but I wouldn’t go out of my way to find it again.

Draft. Pours very clear copper/light brown with a thin white head. Tastes sweet and buttery, smooth, like rum, bourbon, and butterscotch. Low/medium body and low carbonation. Smells sweet, creamy, sugary, and like alcohol.

Tastes a whole lot like someone put a shot of bourbon in the beer. I don’t love the mix - I don’t mind having a bourbon and then having a better, but having them simultaneously doesn’t do it for me.

Bottle at tasting at Beer&Beyond shop. Clear golden-copper color with a small fast fading head. Aroma of bourbon, toffee and caramel. Taste - medium sweetness, vanilla, butterscotch, bourbon, light honey notes. Light-medium bodied, sticky texture, oily on palate.

355ml bottle. Clear, deep orangey amber colour with small, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Malty aroma, notes of Bourbon, vanilla, a touch of leather. Taste is initially carbonation-induced dry, later the Bourbon comes through with hints of vanilla and leather. Seems to be light and watery in the beginning while the carbonation takes away most of the taste, better in the second part but pretty far from terrific.

On tap it is copper with very small head. Taste is bourbon and malt with some sweetness and alcohol. It is smooth but somewhat thin. Certainly drinkable but not quite on the mark.

Clear light amber body with a few bubbles racing to the top. White head. The bourbon flavor is there but is smoothed out in the finish some by vanilla? Taste of alcohol is there. A more of a medium thin body. Definitely more of a sipping beer than a satisfying drinking one.
