3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Acetobacter (816) - Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 11, 2010Enjoyed from a 12oz bottle in an elongated tulip glass. The beer pours a clear light to medium amber hue, with a very faint white head. The nose initially shows a nice vanilla note, before some woodiness that, while noticeable, is hardly overwhelming. The palate contains a quite pleasing melange of malt, fruit, and spice flavors. Again, vanilla comes through in a way that seems more the result of exposure to oak than to artificial extracts. More subtle notes of medium English crystal malts come through, before a mid- to end-palate transition to what seem to be a cross between plumy esters and more remnants of oak exposure. As one might expect with an aged beer, hops are nowhere to be found, almost to a point in which the beer is too sweet. Alcohol is deftly hidden. Overall, enjoyable, complex, and nicely conceived.

Bottle from recent trip on the Bourbon Trail. Poured into pint glass, golden-amber color with white head. Great aroma of bourbon, vanilla, some oak and caramel malt. Taste is a little lighter then aroma leads on, honey/vanilla sweetness and light oaked bourbon balanced with some small hop character. Medium body, light carbonation, sweet body and a dry quick finish. I’ll admit kind of weak for a American strong ale but I’m a sucker for bourbon so I enjoyed this quite a bit. Easy drinking for a beer and bourbon fan.

This is probably the most interesting brew I've drank to date. Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale is stored in bourbon barrels, so it adapts the taste of sweet bourbon and the oak barrels. The taste is very strong while drinking, yet has a very smooth finish. A very good beer!

12 ounce bottle, honey heavy aroma which is different for a bourbon ale. This is lighter than anticipated but very tasty. The weight makes it easy to drink. Almost refreshing, again, odd for a Bourbon ales, but, pleasant. Good beer.

On tap, snifter. Pours a clear gold with no head - looks more like a cider than an ale. Sweet, boozy aroma with a little oak and vanilla. Taste is a little sweeter than expected - really is mostly bourbon on the tongue, with a very warm, alcoholic finish. Pretty good, but not something I’d ask for if I was really in a "beer" mood.

Solid, if a bit on the sweet and hedonistic side. Definite bourbon influence. Clean, delicious.

This beer has a honey color with no head. Smell has a faint bourbon smell. The taste seems like a glass of makers Mark that has been watered down with ice

Bottle thanks to Scott. Pours out copper with not really much of a head. Aroma is of vanilla, bourbon, oak, light toffee and some caramel. Taste is much the same, lots of sweet bourbon, vanilla, toffee, light toast, caramel, lightly buttery notes in there, but not too much to ruin it.

Pours honey color with disappearing head. Very light aroma. Hard to make anything out. Taste is honey and vanilla with just a hint of mellow hops. Warm finish

From the tap. Pours copper color, thin head, clear. Smells great - sweet bourbon, vanilla, wood. Barrel taste is pretty overwhelming. A bit of malty caramel as well, but pushed out by bourbon and some alcohol. One was good enough.

Actually not too bad. Very thin for a bourbon beer but has a nice balance of bourbon and vanilla.
