It is a traditional American-style Barley Wine aged in freshly decanted Kentucky Bourbon barrels. With a rich malty backbone and a citrusy aromatic hoppiness, this bold barrel-aged Barley Wine comes together to create a well-balanced flavor profile.

Tap at brewfest. Amber pour with little white head. Smells of bourbon and malts. Tastes of alcohol with not much balance. A little thin ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz. Clear copper with a lasting creaming disc of foam. Nose is whiskey, cherry and caramel. Tastes of whiskey, mint, caramel apple and bitter wood. Medium-heavy body is fairly smooth with carbonation and is strangely in balance despite swinging wildly from sweet to wooden bitter.

Pours a clear amber with a thin off white head. No lace. Aroma of cheap bourbon and caramel corn. Taste is sweet caramel malt, booze, burnt sugar, melted margarine and a sizable amount of bitterness. Not well balanced at all. At $14.99 per 4 pack, too pricey considering the lack of quality.

Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Barley Wine (2014 Limited Release) has a thin-to-medium off-white head, a mostly clear, rust-red color, some bubble streams, and light lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of sweetness, bourbon barrels, and alcohol. Taste is of bourbon, wood, vanilla, very sweet malt, and a slight balancing bitterness. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium, and Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Barley Wine 2014 finishes semi-dry and surprisingly easy drinking. The alcohol warmth kicks in with the sipping. RJT

Definitely not what I expected. I love a great Barleywine but this was not as wine-y as I expected. A little thin, not thick like others. I also expected a bourbon flavor but was disappointed that it just wasn't there. I've had other beers from this brewery that were much better. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz bottle. Pours ruby brown color. No head. Aroma of fusel booze. Flavor is harsh, dark fruits, raisins, booze, old barrel. Not smoothly finished at all. High alcohol presence. (4087)

Bottled. Poured clear honeyed orange with a tight-bubbled beige head. The aroma picked up nutty and caramel malts joined by a dose of rocket fuel.. some dank, resiny hops over top.. some bourbon sugars on the back, but it was mostly raw alcohol. The flavor found caramel and nutty notes at the core, with sharp bourbon, oak, and raw alcohol laced throughout.. picked up a lemon zest kick over bourbon on the long, belly-warming finish. Medium-plus bodied, and way too boozy.. the base beer didn’t hold up to the barrel very well.
