Barrels that once contained world-famous Kentucky Bourbon lend a sweet hint of caramel and vanilla to dark-roasted malts and finish with the essence of a lightly roasted coffee. The barrel-aged flavors native to Kentucky compliment this complex stout brewed and aged with Haitian coffee to create the bourbon country’s own Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Stout.

Tyűha. Dohos egy hordó lehetett ez. Szavak amelyekkel jellemezni tudnám: cough drop, horse blanket, rotten eggs, barnyard, basement aromas, cereal, chocolate, coffee, roasty and smoke. Haiti csak humbuk lehet, megítélésem alapján. Marketingfogás. A végén az utóízében jön csak ki igazán a bőrbőn barrel, az orrban dohog. Éljen. Nem nagy szám.

Bottle from Drinkstore [210914]
Pitch black, big frothy tan head that dissipates to thin layer
Aroma of wood, soft burnt notes, ashy, then a dab of dark fruity malt
Taste of dark malts, soft burnt, woody, lots of coffee, bit ashy, touch of dark fruits then more come through with the drinking, taste better than the aroma
Palate - medium carb, thin to medium body, bit thin, fairly sweet. Finish as main flavour, soft dark fruits, bit of wood, rapid finish
Overall - Aroma initially just wood and ash, lacked complexity, but some dark fruity malts eventually came through. Taste was better, palate a bit thin. Bit rough around the edges, but not bad

12 oz. bottle. Quite fizzy, and not as thick of a pour as I thought it would be. The aroma is chocolate and wood. There are tones of coffee in the aroma, too. This has a decent aroma, but it’s nothing terribly special. There’s a hint of wood, but there’s plenty of chocolate and roast. The vanilla is poking through at times. This doesn’t have a rich texture, as I thought it would, which is a little disappointing. Overall, this is fine, but pales in comparison to a lot of the wood-aged stouts out there.

Poured jet back with little to no head. Aroma: espresso, whiskey, cocoa. Tastes mainly of espresso and whiskey. Nicely Balanced beer.

Pour, is dark brown with some translucency. This beer is not a thick imperial stout with strong flavors. It’s like a watered down version of the Narwhal by Sierra Nevada. I do not taste the bourbon barrel flavor at all. Flavors I do taste are roasted malt and coffee. The palate is nice and its better than non some stouts on the market, but I would rather buy the Narwhal, Breakfast Stout, or Old Rasputin over this beer. In that order also.

Black with a khaki head. Nose is light alcohol, roasted malts, vanilla, wood and sticky. Nice palate, light roasted malts, sweet, wood, vanilla and an easy finish.

Very tasty. The bourbon flavor melds nicely with the prevailing coffee, chocolate, and cream flavors.

The bourbon aspect to this beer really brings out a unique flavor and kick. This beer is smooth and very drinkable, with not much alcohol kick for being an 8% ABV beer. The bourbon/beer combo blends surprisingly well, and the head is really nice. It’s even got a little creaminess to it.

Bottle. A- Coffee, cocoa, malty, robust, roasted, espresso. A- Black color, dark liquid, tan head. T- Coffee, cocoa, slightly bitter, malty, roasted, subtle bourbon, caramel, vanilla. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, robust finish. O- Quite good, considering my hopes weren’t too high. Not Founders Breakfast stout quality, but still nothing to dismiss. Lots of coffee and roasted cocoa. Fairly rich and complex, although the bourbon aging didn’t seem to do much to it.
