Black color with a light tan head with medium duration. Aroma has notes of light bourbon, mild toasted malsta dn licorice. Flavor is slightly bittery with sweet hints, barrel and bourbon hints with some coffee and licorice notes. Light body for an imperial stout.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
pours unclear medium dark brown, red tint, with a reviving light beige cap, minimal retention and lacing. stale coffee, roasted grains, roasted acidity - almost tart; citrus, pine, booze, plain dark malts akin to a poor black ipa, spicy berries, tons of pepper, cigarette buts, hint of vanilla. light carboantion, light body - slightly watery - clearly lacking for style; acrid and ashy-coffee finish. disgusting.

1.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
12oz bottle, split 2 ways at fridge temp. Pour is pretty dark but not pitch black. 1 finger head that fades to nothing. lots of coffee aroma, roasted malts a bit of chocolate, almost any barrel. This is just not good. sweet, fake pretty bland. almost no mouthfeel at all. tiny barrel presence, very weak. sadly, not good.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20

1.6 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20
Poured from bottle. Lovely jet black color with no head.
Coffee taste immediately up front but completely lacks any bourbon or
boozey after-taste that should follow a bourbon barrel aged beer. As a matter of fact, this tastes little more than cold coffee!
Wouldn't drink this again.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle allowed to warm to about 50F then served in a snifter.
A: A very dark ruby-brown that is black in the glass but with reddish highlights at the edges when held up to the light. It starts with about a finger of light khaki head that quickly settles to a ring.
Aroma: Vanilla, roasted malts, light coffee, toasted bread, bourbon barrel and faint chocolate. Aroma is the strong point of this ale.
Flavor: lightly sweet. Bourbon barrel adds some vanilla, toffee, faint wood and, of course, bourbon. aftertaste
Feel: Carbonation is low. Body is medium. Smooth but with a light astringency. Some warming.
Overall: a good ale but only average, at best, for a Bourbon Barrel Stout.
