Carefully crafted by Alltechís master brewers, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Stoutģ builds on the success of its barrel-aged brother, the beloved Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Aleģ. Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Stout is brewed and aged with Alltechģ Cafť Citadelle Haitian coffee and aged in world-famous Kentucky bourbon barrels. The result is a complex stout with dark-roasted malts, hints of caramel and vanilla and a lightly roasted coffee finish.

Poured jet back with little to no head. Aroma: espresso, whiskey, cocoa. Tastes mainly of espresso and whiskey. Nicely Balanced beer.

Pour, is dark brown with some translucency. This beer is not a thick imperial stout with strong flavors. Itís like a watered down version of the Narwhal by Sierra Nevada. I do not taste the bourbon barrel flavor at all. Flavors I do taste are roasted malt and coffee. The palate is nice and its better than non some stouts on the market, but I would rather buy the Narwhal, Breakfast Stout, or Old Rasputin over this beer. In that order also.

Black with a khaki head. Nose is light alcohol, roasted malts, vanilla, wood and sticky. Nice palate, light roasted malts, sweet, wood, vanilla and an easy finish.

Very tasty. The bourbon flavor melds nicely with the prevailing coffee, chocolate, and cream flavors.

The bourbon aspect to this beer really brings out a unique flavor and kick. This beer is smooth and very drinkable, with not much alcohol kick for being an 8% ABV beer. The bourbon/beer combo blends surprisingly well, and the head is really nice. Itís even got a little creaminess to it.

Bottle. A- Coffee, cocoa, malty, robust, roasted, espresso. A- Black color, dark liquid, tan head. T- Coffee, cocoa, slightly bitter, malty, roasted, subtle bourbon, caramel, vanilla. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, robust finish. O- Quite good, considering my hopes werenít too high. Not Founders Breakfast stout quality, but still nothing to dismiss. Lots of coffee and roasted cocoa. Fairly rich and complex, although the bourbon aging didnít seem to do much to it.

"Pretty much as expected since Iíve had the amber a couple times. I knew itíd be thinner. Itís not a massive imperial stoutm so I didnít expect thick, or huge. It does seem like the barrel was different, as this bourbon was more mellow and less peppery than I remember the amber being (but itís been a while). For a more widely produced and cheaper alternative, this would be a good way to scratch that barreled itch (I get that itch a lot and canít drop $10-20 each time). Nose is great, fudge, coffee and mellow barrel. Look is a little weak, more like a porter. Feel isnít huge, but is smooth and not a trace of 8%. Flavor is nice and mellow, almost matching the aroma but with less going on, especially the roasted coffee aspect. Not too shabby for $3."

Having had both this beer and the much-lauded Founderís Kentucky Breakfast Stout, I have to be perfectly honest... I canít tell a difference. If youíre wondering what Founders KBS tastes like, get yourself a bottle of this beer and sip it. Thereís little, if any, significant difference. Both beers have a solid stout flavor behind them with plenty of coffee and dark roasted malt bitterness to them. Both have a solid bourbon aroma and flavor to them. Both are quite drinkable and enjoyable. But Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Stout is much easier to find and usually much less expensive than Founders.

It's a decent enough Bourbon Stout. Poured with a short-lived light tan head, no lace and an opaque Black brown color. Aroma is roast Malt, bourbon. Flavors like aroma well-balanced very drinkable but not too complex. Kind of an average body for a stout. Overall a good enough beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
