Lovely coffee stout. Bourbon aged but doesn’t give a hugely distinctive bourbon flavour, dominated by the Haitian coffee flavour. Doesn’t pour with a great head but a lovely coffee stout none the less.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Strong aroma is very smoky, with notes of molasses, roast malt, coffee and charred wood. Pours a warm sable a whisker above black with a thick, if not persistent, fine-bubbled light tan head. Roast malt, chocolate, quality coffee, molasses, and subtle bourbon notes make their appearances as this delightful stout slides over your tongue and down the pipes. Texture is firm, smooth and fizzy, leaving a smoky finish with chocolate, coffee and bourbon hints. A must for stout fans.

This is something different being a coffee bourbon barrel stout. Unlike other bourbon barrel aged beers I have had, this one picks up a slight amount of bourbon flavour, but this one is more steered to the coffee flavor. A smooth finish with the aroma and taste of coffee give this stout something different. The color is nice and dark and pours with a nice head formed on top. Almost want to add a drop of cream to this delicious stout.

(draft @ Lizardville - Bedford Heights, OH) Dark black pour with a thick tan head. Huge roasted malt aroma with coffee and chocolate and a really sweet and prevalent bourbon note. Flavor is much the same. Roasted malts, sweet chocolate and malts with a sweet and smooth bourbon finish to it.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: AUG 10, 2014 Deep-water hiding a Malaysian Airlines flight 370 in total blackness. As I near the bottom, I hope to uncover the secret of the disappearance! But alas, yes this coffee-beer stout is espresso dark. Alcohol snifter and forward on the palette, it expedites leaving some bitter and a slight dark roast in your cheek. The coffee is overwhelming the bourbon. I love the bourbon ale produced by Kentucky so I had the same expectations in this. But as the description reads true to form, vanilla and coffee. Boring. Bring forth the bourbon in this barrel-aged-wasted beer stout thingy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A bit of bourbon in the smell, but more of sweet coffee and vanilla in the taste. The alcohol content is very well hidden by the sweetness. Very good beer, much smoother and less punishing than some others in the imperial stout category.

The barrel-aged flavors native to Kentucky compliment this complex stout brewed and aged with Haitian coffee to create this wonderful Bourbon Barrel Stout.
