COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Barrels that once contained world-famous Kentucky Bourbon lend a sweet hint of caramel and vanilla to dark-roasted malts and finish with the essence of a lightly roasted coffee. The barrel-aged flavors native to Kentucky compliment this complex stout brewed and aged with Haitian coffee to create the bourbon country’s own Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Stout.

pours like coffee with some light shining through on the edges with a minimal head. aromas of coffee, vanilla, chocolate and slight coconut. the taste is very roasty with tons of coffee, I am not picking up a ton of bourbon but there is some vanilla present. Mouthfeel is pretty thin for a stout especially one at 8 percent abv. I am not saying this is bad but it is kind of weak for the style.

Bottle into snifter glass. Rich very dark brown color with the slightest reddish hue when held to light, khaki head. Aroma of roasted malt sweetness, caramel, smoke, dark chocolate, dark fruit and some coffee. Taste brings out a lot more coffee, a tiny bit of bourbon influence (oak, vanilla) and earthy hop notes. Medium body, low carbonation, kind of thin for an IS, ends with a roasty sweet finish. Pretty good, was hoping for more bourbon influence and less coffee but solid.

Solid. Less of a Bourbon note than the regular ale, but still there. A little on the big end, bit vaguely balanced. Not overly interesting, though.

Nice and smooth coffee stout, with a beautiful bourbon infusion. Stout base is on the sweet side, with minimal roastiness. The bourbon is perfectly proportioned -- adds a nice complexity without being overbearing. This one is recommended -- would love to see an imperial version! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

It's a very rich beer with lots of character that its not overpowering taste with a nice punch. Rich nutty malt with a feel of caramel and butter. Not too hoppy but its worth. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The aroma is very toasted with coffee, chocolate, wood, and a touch of booze. The appearance is dark brown with a small head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is average. Overall I like it and it had no major faults it’s just a little underwhelming for an imperial. I don’t get a lot of the bourbon.

Pours dark brown from the bottle. Heady is fizzy brown and quickly fades to a nothing. Aroma is solid and sweet- raw sugar, molasses, chocolate, some roasty notes, bread, toffee. Flavor is chocolate, bread, sugary sweet malts. The mouthfeel is there but is really lacking some texture and richness. Kinda a bit thin but you can tell its a bigger beer. Flavors are good but is a touch over carbed and lacks the silky richness i expect.

Love this stout. Leaves you with that warm feeling in your belly just as if you were drinking bourbon. Perfect balance!

Color me impressed. Dark cola colored beer with a thin, off-white head. Aromas of strong, roasted coffee. Tastes of rich, dark coffee, dark chocolate, and balanced out by some dry hops. Taste of semi-sweet bourbon is in the finish along with woody/earthy notes. While bourbon and dark chocolate flavors are tasty, the flavors are dominated by the roasted, dark coffee flavors. Delicious, intense, and enjoyable.

Pours an opaque black on tap with thin ring of tan lace. Aroma is heavy roasted malt and coffee, a hint of bourbon on the back end. Taste is coffee and then a hint of vanilla, no real booze presence. Decent, but nothing great.

Considering the ABV and, even more so, the price of a single 12 oz bottle, this is a fairly disappointing brew. Pours a dark brown with a decent head that quickly disappears. Nose is sweet --- alcohol and dark fruits with a bit of roasted malt. Flavor is much the same, though the roast is really minimal. For an imperial stout, this is pretty thin in flavor and doesn’t offer much complexity. Decent and drinkable, but hardly a notable offering for the style.
