Kentucky Kölsch® is a top-fermented ale, a classic style of beer originating in Cologne, Germany. According to German beer law, only beers brewed in Cologne can carry this illustrious title. Aside from our brewery’s Kentucky location, we are certain Kentucky Kölsch® lives up to these high beer standards. For years, Alltech master brewers have used their very own specialized yeast, which is the single greatest contributor to this remarkably flavorful and award-winning microbrew. Our master brewers’ recipe calls for imported pale malts and malted white wheat to create an exceptionally smooth finish.

Kentucky Kölsch® was renamed from Kentucky Light in Spring 2013 to more accurately reflect its beer style. The light-bodied, crisp ale is a German-style Kölsch ale, a classic style of beer originating from Cologne, Germany. With the increasing savvy of craft beer enthusiasts, the Kölsch descriptor is now better recognized and understood.

Pours light without much head which lingers a bit. Good aroma for a light beer. Drinkable . Hey, it’s a Kölsch, not a stout. I like it.

Pours the color of straw. Smells like grass and corn coming out of the bottle. Excessive bubbling. Tastes trashy. Pretty bad

At a tasting, thanks, smallish bubbly head, a little hazy pale yellow color, aroma of cooked vegetables and some almond with some yeast in the back, yeasty citrus flavor, strange unpleasant sourness, spritzy feeling. Revolting.

Bottle sample at a tasting at troubles’s place. Thanks Tom L. Pale yellow with a white head. Aroma of vegetables and paper. Sourish flavor with vegetables, a bit of paper, and a slightly bitterish finish. Light-bodied. Quite bad, definitely off.

Bottle. Light gold to straw color. White head. Aroma is faint, easy and grainy. Some metal in the flavor, very bitter. Otherwise straightforward. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz. bottle. Pours a thin, poorly retained, whie head over a clear, yellow (SRM 3) body......nose is light colored fruits (apple, pear), hints of cereal, herbal hops......taste is slightly sweet, with light fruit notes, slight malts, no hops.....mouth feel, light body, no alcohol, high carbonation. Although the style is quite light, this beer needs a bit more in both aroma and flavor to meet it. The fruit notes, while present are quite light. The recipe needs more work as this is closer to a Pale Lager then a Kolsch. BJCP 6/2/10/4/5
