Pours light without much head which lingers a bit. Good aroma for a light beer. Drinkable . Hey, it’s a Kölsch, not a stout. I like it.

Bottle at home. Aroma is apple juice. Crystal clear. Crisp and very clean. Almost flavorless. A bit of corn and grass. Certainly not a kolsch.

UPDATED: FEB 20, 2014 Kentucky Fried Charleston Trip Beer #1. Draft at Drake’s, Lexington as Drake’s Ale. Confirmed by two bartenders and the menu that this is Kentucky Kolsch. Pours a clear golden color with a medium sized frothy white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of grassy hops and mild green apple. The taste is strong creamed corn, grainy malts and a very faint grassy hop note. Thin bodied. Well, at least it washed down the buffalo wings.

Secret Krampus beer #5, thanks Peter.
Pours clear and very light in color. Looks more like a cider actually. The head retention behaves the same way and all the carbonation leaves quickly. The aroma is simple: corn and grapes, with a hint of metal in the background. The flavor is oddly bitter and mildly metallic. This followed by a sweet grain flavor and some corn. Not a fan of this one.

16oz can. Clear, bright yellow, thin white ring. Aroma of straw, hay, pale grains, cereal malts, and bread. Simple nose. Tastes like a pale lager. A bit overly sweet. Not much of hop profile, distant hints of grass. Maybe it needs more fermentation time. Finishes with fruity esters. Just too sweet, lacks balance. (3943)

bottle: pours golden yellow with a little fizzy white head. Meh. Aroma is grainy and some grassiness... meh. Taste is some sweetness...some grain and some meh. This is not the best kolsch that I have ever had. It’s just...meh.

Are u kidding me? Is this really a micro? Everything about this screams mass produced water! Stale aroma, clear golden pour, flavorless taste, & all around pathetic! Not a good intro into KY beers!

Poured from bottle. I didn’t realize that this used to be the light beer. Oh, well. Corn and malt aroma. Clear pale gold with a bit of head. I’m tasting corn, malt and some pepper hops. Slightly soapy aftertaste. Now I need something decent to drink to make up for that.

11/1/13. Happy November or whatever. 16oz can from Five Points. Pale golden pour, clear, under a very small off-white head that sizzles away fast. Weirdly fruity aroma, applesauce, graininess, hay, seltzer water. Mild grainy flavor, hay, apples, metallic, meh. Meh meh meh. Oh well, will drink all 4 for a low boost.

Guest tap at Union Brewing. Clear light gold pour with a white head. A very nice sessionable Kolsch. Nothing spectacular but a good solid beer.

Can. Not a very good example of this style. Taste more like an America Pale Lager than a Kölsch. Just not good.
