2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Block (1039) - Indianapolis, Indiana, USA - JUL 1, 2012
Sampled at 2012 Indianapolis Brew Ha Ha. Light, bland, nothing too special about this beer unfortunately.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 queenholly (1853) - South Whitley, Indiana, USA - JUN 18, 2012
Bottle. Musty lemon and grass aroma. Hazy yellow with a small white head. Sour corn malt flavor with a slight grassy bitter finish. Light body and carbonation. I suppose it would do in a pinch on a hot day, but I wouldn’t seek it out.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 jkwood04 (2291) - Connecticut, USA - JUN 3, 2012
Sampled at the 2012 American Craft Beer Festival. Very light malts and hops. Nothing at all worth trying. I hate Lexington too.
2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 PorterPounder (4611) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - APR 29, 2012
Savannah, Ga. - Habersham Beverage Warehouse (Habersham St) - 12 oz bottle. Pours a lifeless light golden, not head, no bubbles. Aroma has some hints of lemon, a bit of mown grass. Flavor have a hint of lemon, some yeasty notes, a buttery back end. Mouthfeel is slightly thin and a bit stinging. Not the best Kölsch I have ever had.
2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 RobertDale (1896) - Lansing, Kansas, USA - MAR 30, 2012
12 ounce bottle. Pours a pale yellow with an average white head. Aroma of grain and malt. Taste is light malt, grain, and grass. Very thin. Not offensive.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 rangerred (662) - Johnson City, Tennessee, USA - MAR 9, 2012
12oz bottle poured into a pint glass.
Appearance is a very slightly hazy pale yellow with a tiny head that is quick to disappear.
Smell is a little corn and a lot of bready grain with some grassy hops thrown in there as well.
Flavor is much like the smell. Bready grain along with a little bit of cooked vegetables. Light hay and grass along with a slight bitterness towards the finish. Finishes pretty crisp.
I’m don’t think this is a really great example of a kolsch but tastes more like a dirty pilsener. Flavors aren’t all that great but it is an excellent thirst quencher.
1.8 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Suttree (4452) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - MAR 4, 2012
I’m no style expert, but this seems like a prime example of "let’s just call it a Kolsch because it’s our lightest beer". Smells of corn, corn and corn. Flavor is corn and grassy. No thank you.
2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 PaperKnife (82) - - JAN 9, 2012
Bottle. Clear yellow, thin white head. Very slight malt aroma. Dry, bitter flavor, light spicy hop flavor, some oxidation.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 cheap (3376) - Cheap Lager in Western, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 6, 2011
From a bottle and it does smell alittle like those pale lagers from the old country; a little veggie on the pop. Looks like a slightly hazy pale lager. Quite easy on the taste buds with lots of co2 zest. Goes down fairly easy and its better than those other kentucky beers I’ve had. Yes refreshing and easy, quite likable to this lager lover. Not bad, a friendly beer drinken experience. Very little detectable alky and I guess this is due to the 4% alky level. Nice finish, overall good beer drinken experience.
