4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
DATE TASTED: November 13, 2015 ... GLASSWARE: Maudite snifter... OCCASION: Friday night in--a good feeling on a cold, wet night... APPEARANCE: a beautiful amber orange body with translucence revealing balanced bubbles throughout; slightly creamy, slightly soapy white head that holds reasonably well... AROMA: cinnamon, allspice, pumpkin, and some vanilla; definite alcohol heat.... PALATE: warming, full-bodied and resilient in its finish; with the considerable ABV, this is a victory... TASTE: goodness, the bourbon--a strong, confident impact that rounds with a flowery hop aspect--the aspects of caramel are considerable, and the vanilla is pleasant; the spices are equally dominant and ambitious; this basically takes a nice whiskey and adds a more drinkable nuance to the profile... OVERALL: this could be lethal, with the ABV is subtle as the flavor is robust; far and away the best pumpkin I’ve had this season, with the sipability factor on high...

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a clear orange amber color with off-white head. Pumpkin pie spice, bourbon, vanilla and oak on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with much of the same, maybe a little sweetness on the finish. Pretty much the same beer beginning to finish.

4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Cinnamon, oak, allspice, and pumpkin nose. Clear orange, medium yellow head, minimal lacing. Pumpkin and bourbon in the forefront, with only subtle allspice and vanilla notes. Slightly sweet. Medium body, easy carbonation, alcohol well concealed. Very tastefully done, both with the measured spice addition and the bourbon. In particular, the oak really compliments the pumpkin, which begs the question why most pumpkin ales aren’t conditioned on wood. This is as high a score as I am likely to give for either a pumpkin or bourbon aged beer.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours attractive clear orange with small off-white head that goes quickly but does leave slight lacing.
Nose is caramel, spice, pumpkin and significant bourbon. The palate is similarly dominated by the whiskey note, as well as vanilla from the barrels. Nutmeg and pumpkin provide nice accents, but this is an alcoholic ale with a bit of seasonal flavor.
This works all right as a sipper, since the alcohol is more noticeable as heat/flavor than strictly as wooziness. With a little more work on the pumpkin, it could be a winner.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark amber from a bottle. Nose of bourbon--vanilla and oaky, some nondeScript spices, maybe allspice and nutmeg. Flavor slightly pumpkin, lots more of the bourbon and spice flavors. Somewhat sour rye flavor or something like that. Not terribly boozy, just enough to match the bourbon flavor. Good beer.
