A barrel-aged ale brewed with Kentucky-sourced pumpkin, richly spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice. As the ale is aged in fresh bourbon barrels, the sweetness of caramel and vanilla are imparted upon the brew and complement its spicier base. At 10 percent alcohol by volume (ABV), this robust, limited release seasonal makes for a flavorful sipping beer to slowly warm up with as the weather cools.

Originally rated on 10/22/14. Clear, deep orange color, white head with very light lacing. Alcohol right to start the smell, as it warms you get the other aromas of cinnamon, nutmeg. Taste is of the pumpkin spices, bourbon is very dominant.A nice sweet caramel malt base, vanilla and some oak on the finish. Medium mouthfeel, light carbonation. Overall too much booze spoiled what could have been a really tasty beer.

bout the same body and feel as the peach and IPA. This one has a clearish light orange-amber appearance. Pumpkin isn’t too sweet or overwhelming. The bourbon is actually the hit here. Solid all-around beer that I wanted to try last season, but will probably pass on the next.

Bottle (2013)... Clear dirty-orange pour with a mid-sized, creamy, white head. Good retention. The aroma is a luxuriant swirl of caramel, toasted oak, vanilla and bourbon with a rumor of holiday spices. Full-bodied with a heavy mouthfeel and lazy carbonation. The flavor provides smooth, interwoven notes of caramel, bourbon, vanilla and a hint of toasted coconut. There’s absolutely no heat here and any holiday spices are an afterthought. I’m drinking this in late December 2014. Mind-bogglingly good. Not overly sweet. Eight months of room temperature aging, followed by six months in my beer fridge. This is a shelf beer to buy and hang onto for a good while.

Pours clear orange with no head. Aroma has notes of pumpkin pie filling and vanilla. Flavor follows suit but it is a bit bland...no trace of the 10% abv. Mouthfeel is light and silky with a dry earthy/pumpkiny finish. Not too bad...just a bit bland and dead looking with no head at all.

December 25, 2014 - bottle from Jim. Clear orange pour with big head that lasted. Aroma was pumpkin spice, malt and mild bourbon. Taste was very malty initially, then moved into the pumpkin spice and finished with the bourbon. Once the bourbon faded then the spice came back.

Bottle from O’Brien’s, Athlone [181214]
Irn Bru Orange, clear, bubbly white head that dissipates away
Aroma - Spices, cinnamon, nutmeg, bit vegetal, sweet Xmas cake spices, no hops, gingerbread, a bit weird
Taste as aroma, no surprises, less vegetal that aroma, just spices, little complexity, sweet malts, some alcohol
Palate - soft carb, unusually thin for the abv. Finish of sweet spicy malts
Overall - Just spices and soft malts, rather strange, not that great, but easy going for the ABV

Lore (2092) - Budapest, HUNGARY - DEC 18, 2014
dark orange to amber colour, practically no head at all; aroma of honeydew melon, pumpkin some vanilla, whisky notes and caramel; taste is fully dominated by sweetness with intensive bourbon notes and spicy alcohol, maybe some vanilla, and pumpkin - too much and unbalanced sweetness - practically undrinkable
