COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kentucky Pumpkin Barrel Ale is a barrel-aged ale brewed with Kentucky-sourced pumpkin, richly spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice. As the ale is aged in fresh bourbon barrels, the sweetness of caramel and vanilla are imparted upon the brew and complement its spicier base. At 10 percent alcohol by volume (ABV), this robust, limited release seasonal makes for a flavorful sipping beer to slowly warm up with as the weather cools. Some retailers will be offering collectible jack-o-latern snifters along with the ale.

12 oz. Clear orange-amber with a lasting spit of cream on top. Nose is butterscotch liqueur, vanilla and maybe a hint of pumpkin. Taste is the same without the alcohol plus a hint of spice and a nice finish of oak. Medium body has a nice balance, smooth carbonation and is drinkably thinned by the well-hidden 10% abv. Very similar to the Bourbon Barrel Ale but smoother, even with the higher abv. Iím grateful for the low dose of pie spices but would have liked more pumpkin.

Aroma: Nice, tempting notes of nutmeg, cinnamon and (of course) pumpkin which really plays well with the bourbon, which is present but not overpowering. In my opinion, about as great as a pumpkin beer can smell. Appearance: Rich copper with a nice, softly rolling carbonation; the head is bone coloured and a little creamy. Flavor: Matches the nose; the pumpkin and spice meets you up front and the bourbon creeps in and sustains until the finish. Quite warming and comforting. Palate: Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, long finish. Overall: I didnít want to like this beer as much as I do; itís by far the best pumpkin beer Iíve had, Alltechís finest beer, and just a damn good beer period. Seek this out while it lasts.

12oz bottle - pour clear pale amber with huge huge head that slowly disappears. Nose is nutmeg, wood, cinnamon, and bourbon. Sip introduces pumpkin, caramel, and a tad of booze or is it a chock. Fairly sweet and medium bodied. A lot easier to drink that the normal barrel ale, and not as boozy. the misses does not care for this, even though she is an avid anything-pumpkin fan. Strangely easy to drink. wooooOOOOOooooOOOOOooooo.

Overall a descent beer. A little sweet and I wish the bourbon came through a little stronger but not a bad offering.

12oz bottle. Totally clear golden orange color. Thin somewhat bubbly white head. Fades to a minimal amount quickly. Some loose bits of lace. Very nice deep pumpkin and bourbon in the nose. Bigger body. Soft, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Nice pumpkin pie, spice, and light bourbon in the flavor. Taste is moderate sweet, with alcohol warmth, and a lot of spice. As it warms up, booze is much more pronounced than in similar beers. Also, the body is not nearly as full as other 8.5%+ pumpkin beers, texture is maybe a little watery. Gets kind of hot even, towards the end, really. Pumpkin and bourbon aroma was nice, but this is just too damn rough to pull it off.

12 ounce bottle. Served in a snifter, the beer pours a clear orange color with a thin quarter inch off-white head that fizzled away quickly. The brew smells like pumpkin spices, pumpkin, bourbon, vanilla and a bit of peppery spice. Taste is pretty much just like the aroma, it tastes like pumpkin spices, pumpkin, bourbon, vanilla, and a bit of coconut. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, itís slick and smooth and goes down easy. The 10% ABV is well hidden in this brew. Itís very similar to their regular Bourbon Barrel Ale, but with some pumpkin and spices. I think itís a good overall brew. If you like their Bourbon Barrel Ale, then you will probably like this one too. $14.99 a 4-pack.

Tap sample. Poured clear orange color with an average white frothy head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Soft doughy pumpkin and small woody alcohol aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium soft bourbon sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Soft for style.

Sample at Pint House, brown sugar rimmed glass. Pours a clear orange color with a medium thin off-white head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of pumpkins and slight oak. Medium-bodied with flavors of sweet pumpkin spice, oaky vanilla and slight hops. The finish is sweet with a pumpkin and cinnamon aftertaste. Tastes exactly like the Bourbon Barrel Ale with pumpkin thrown in, but decent nonetheless.

Lexington Fest of Ales. Orange body. Pumpkin and base of pumpkin spice. I did not get the vanilla nor the barrel on this one.
