Kentucky Pumpkin Barrel Ale is a barrel-aged ale brewed with Kentucky-sourced pumpkin, richly spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice. As the ale is aged in fresh bourbon barrels, the sweetness of caramel and vanilla are imparted upon the brew and complement its spicier base. At 10 percent alcohol by volume (ABV), this robust, limited release seasonal makes for a flavorful sipping beer to slowly warm up with as the weather cools. Some retailers will be offering collectible jack-o-latern snifters along with the ale.

The bourbon is still a bit overpowering to the pumpkin i would have liked to see a better balance between the two ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a snifter. Thanx, Mindy for the bottle. The appearance was a glossy dark orange color with a thin white foamy head that dissipated within about a half minute to a film and leaving a light lacing here and there. The smell started with a rich sweet boozy pumpkin. It reminded me of someone dumping some bourbon in a pumpkin and this is what I smelled. Eventually, some cinnamon and a light cocoa ran in and out through the aroma. The taste was basically the same with a sticky boozy biscuity/bready/pie crust flavoring. There’s a super long sticky boozy pumpkin aftertaste leading into a sticky sweet finish ,just smacking my lips in a good way. On the palate, this one sat about a medium maybe to heavy on the body.Sessionability? Haha, no way, she’s a sipper in every sort of way about it. The carbonation seemed to be fairly decent for the style and to me. Overall, I say this was a pretty good pumpkin ale with bourbon in it, though it came across more so as just some booziness in the smell.

Bottle:   Faint but definite bourbon notes on the nose, touch of caramel, with light spices.   Smooth on the tongue, moderately spiced up front, all the good bits, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice.   Faintn touch of clove.   Warming, but can’t tell this is 10%.   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   Barrel aging takes over towards the backside.   Lingering bourbon and caramel, albeit soft.   Better than I expected.   This one was tasty.

tap - Pours amber-orange with a small head. The aroma is mostly bourbon, as is the flavor, but it also tastes of pumpkin pie spices. It has similar bourbon and sweetness levels as the brewer’s flag ship bourbon ale. Good beer.

Pumpkin flavor dampens bourbon flavor but the overall pumpkin spice has a different taste than standard pumpkin ales

pours crystal clear amber. Nose has all the elements one might expect. vanilla, cinnamon, oaky bourbon, caramels, sweet richness. Flavor is similar in spice, bourbon, and vanilla character. Sweetness is medium light and the body is medium. Pretty tasty overall. Could have been a fuller body to support the alcohol strength.

a clear orange color, aroma of sweet vanilla and spices. first sip you can taste the spices (nutmeg cinnamon) with some sweet undertones. very smooth. aftertaste the aged bourbon really hits you with a pleasant smokey flavour and hint of pumpkin. high ABV is hidden with the well balance of ingredients. very warming flavours thought this was a solid choice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz bottle. Orange color. Aroma of pumpkin spice and bourbon wood. Brown sugar, nutmeg nose. Harsh mouthfeel, Pale Lager character. Flavors of allspice, stale beer, & fusel hidden by abundance of spice. Lacks balance. (3947)

Bottle. Clear orange pour with a moderate white head. Aroma is pumpkin spice and bourbon - pretty nice. Little more bourbon on taste but it tastes kinda cheap. A bit boozy despite the lighter body. Decent, not great.

Poured an orangish amber from the bottle with aromas of pumpkin, all spic3, light nutmeg and bourbon. Flavors were light vanilla and bourbon pumpkin pie. I was surprised with this beer, a nice holiday sipper.
