COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kentucky Pumpkin Barrel Ale is a barrel-aged ale brewed with Kentucky-sourced pumpkin, richly spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice. As the ale is aged in fresh bourbon barrels, the sweetness of caramel and vanilla are imparted upon the brew and complement its spicier base. At 10 percent alcohol by volume (ABV), this robust, limited release seasonal makes for a flavorful sipping beer to slowly warm up with as the weather cools. Some retailers will be offering collectible jack-o-latern snifters along with the ale.

Pumpkin flavor dampens bourbon flavor but the overall pumpkin spice has a different taste than standard pumpkin ales

Aroma: Nice, tempting notes of nutmeg, cinnamon and (of course) pumpkin which really plays well with the bourbon, which is present but not overpowering. In my opinion, about as great as a pumpkin beer can smell. Appearance: Rich copper with a nice, softly rolling carbonation; the head is bone coloured and a little creamy. Flavor: Matches the nose; the pumpkin and spice meets you up front and the bourbon creeps in and sustains until the finish. Quite warming and comforting. Palate: Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, long finish. Overall: I didnít want to like this beer as much as I do; itís by far the best pumpkin beer Iíve had, Alltechís finest beer, and just a damn good beer period. Seek this out while it lasts.

Aroma: Brown sugar, spices, pumpkin...smells like fresh pumpkin pie. Appearance: Clear amber with rich, tan head. Taste: Heavy sweetness with hints of sourness at the edges. Palate: Medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation, long finish. Overall: A bit overdone for my taste, this is a heavy pumpkin pie flavored beer. It's a solid seasonal, but rich. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Comes out of the growler a nice clear golden with a fluffy eggshell head. Aroma has a strong note of bourbon-soaked oak - and pumpkin. Aaaaah, pumpkin, fresh pumpkin. Flavor adds to a core of delicious fresh pumpkin strong notes of bourbon, oak, and - butterscotch? Whatever, itís quite tasty. Texture is firm and smooth, quite firm, good fizz. Just a snip above "good" in all categories - but watch out, it will sneak up on you like a cat on your toes while you sleep in bed. Enjoy responsibility, and Happy Samhain!

12 ounce bottle. Served in a snifter, the beer pours a clear orange color with a thin quarter inch off-white head that fizzled away quickly. The brew smells like pumpkin spices, pumpkin, bourbon, vanilla and a bit of peppery spice. Taste is pretty much just like the aroma, it tastes like pumpkin spices, pumpkin, bourbon, vanilla, and a bit of coconut. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, itís slick and smooth and goes down easy. The 10% ABV is well hidden in this brew. Itís very similar to their regular Bourbon Barrel Ale, but with some pumpkin and spices. I think itís a good overall brew. If you like their Bourbon Barrel Ale, then you will probably like this one too. $14.99 a 4-pack.

Nice. Golden to orange pour with white head. Aroma very faint pumpkin and spice. Taste comes more forward. Nice balance. Not overwhelming.

I wasnít quite prepared for the strong bourbon flavoring, which is borderline overpowering. The beer pours with almost no head, leaving no lace on the glass. Most other pumpkin brews Iíve sampled this fall have been more subtle, and more immediate. I first noted the pumpkin-like aftertaste nearly 10 minutes after I finished my glass of beer. Interesting

Bottle - Pours a beautiful golden amber color with a white thin head. Aroma is spiced, malty. Flavor is spiced, malty, warm and inviting. Easy to sip on going into the fall season. Alcohol is hidden well. Would drink again.
