1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20
500ml bottle. I canít comment on the pour, as it was consumed from the bottle, and thatís probably for the best. There is an unpleasant funky aroma, along with some oily cardboard notes. Very faint nondescript hops leading into a body of cardboard and sweet adjuncts. The finish is bland and watery, although at least not metallic. An apocalyptically bad lager, even by African standards.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Light bready smell with some metall and slight artificial. Similar taste. Like a regular industrial lager. Tusker was allot better (tried side by side).

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
500ml bottle picked up in an offie in Hammersmith. As íWhite Cap Lagerí, 4.2%. Brewed by EABL Kenya with Equatorial barley and corn starch. Brilliant pale orange, sparkling, small foamy white head leaves full lacing. Aroma is mostly Jacobís crackers with some sweetened popcorn. Body is medium to light, smooth, low carbonation. Taste is light honey, papery, watery with some popcorn, very light bitterness. I donít mind the corn adjunct. Very drinkable - I can imagine chilling in the Kenyan heat with a couple of these. Insipid but not unpleasant.

Iím not sure what the difference between this and any of the Tuskers is, really. Reasonably drinkable.

2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
A light straw coloured beer with a big foamy head. Slightly more drinkable than Tusker though fairly bland. Itís a lager, (as it says 3 times on the front labels) itís drinkable providing itís ice cold and the sun is beaming down. OK as a thirst quencher and thatís about it.

0.8 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20
Bottle. Yet another rock bottom performance by Kenya Breweries. Why donít they just make one crap beer?? They all taste the same...just different shades of awful.

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Standard fizzy nothingness, mostly malt, not a lot of hops. Refreshing though if its freezing cold and after a hard day travel cross country in a 4x4!

2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Another beer I brought back from my Kenyan adventure in August 2007.
This brown, half litre bottle has a golden label with a picture of a white capped mountain, most likely Mount Kenya, but I am no expert on mountain spotting.
Brewed 20 June 2007, must be drank before 20 Dec 2007, it was drunk on 03 Sept 2007.
I poured the beer into my one remaining Corsendonk tulip glass, leaving a third of the beer to replenish the glass later.
The body of the beer is a very pale, yellow straw colour, clear and clean looking. A white cap of foam sat on top, the head soon left to be replaced by a thin covering of wispy, twirly small bubbles.
As with almost every lager beer I try, the aroma escapes me, so this one gets my normal 3.0 for smell. There was a very small hint of yeast, but not enough to get excited about.
This could have been any of the sweeter lagers you have tried anywhere in the world. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing stood out either, just a bog standard Euro style lager.
No real body or flavours to give it a hefty mouthfeel, a bit water maybe, but it wasnít weak, nor did it have that tinny taste some lagers leave in the mouth.
All in all, not a bad drink. I didnít get to try one while out in Kenya, I just got it at a supermarket, so I could review it on my return to the UK.
