On tap at Bavarian Lodge. Pours hazy golden hue with fluffly white head. Smell of barnyard yeast. Mouthfeel is medium. Taste has some fruit sweetness as well as spice. Definite yeast component.

A: Got one of the later pours out of the bottle, so it was a bit yeasty. Slightly hazed golden orange color with a finger of white head. S: On the sweet side with a lot of sugar notes and some pale malts. Notes of light fruits such as apples and pears, with hints of banana. Sweet orange and orange peel are there as well. As it warms up, a stronger and stronger caramel smell comes through. T: Caramel all the way through with still quite a lot of candi sugar and pale malts. Banana esters increase with intensity as the beer warms up. Good fruit notes of apple and orange, as well as some orange peel. M: Medium in body with a moderate level of carbonation. O: A solid tripel. While it is sweet, it’s not cloyingly so.

Draught at Moeder Lambic. Muddy golden coloured with a medium sized white ehad. Fruity aroma of caramel and spices with notes of yeast and alcohol. Fruity flavour of spices, hops and caramel with notes of yeast. Hoppy finish.

75 cl bottle. Amber orange body with a large fizzy white head. A great aroma of bananas. Taste is very different from the aroma. Slightly sweet, slightly bitter. Aftertaste is weird, something chemical. Too bad. Good beer but weird aftertast.

Nice tripel. Doubt it’ll be memorable enough that I’ll remember it if I ever drink it again.

DruncanVeasey (7098) - NUNEATON, Top 13, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - JAN 21, 2011
750ml bottle at The Penguin. Pure gold with a fine uneven white foam lacing like lager. Wonderful hop aroma with juicy fat orange flesh, pine, papaya, gooseberries and honey. Slick and honeyed with hints of TCP and oak; orange flesh and gooseberry hop very much in the driving seat, retronasal acetone reckons Octo. I reckon she’s wrong. Top tripel with a hop character holding its own Vs Mikkeller Simcoe at The Penguin tonight. Fair play. Bright, ringing Belgian of the kind that gives the impression you could drink it all night, and then hurts you for 2 days afterwards. Beautiful beer. Welcome to the top 100 raters club, DruncanVeasey.

Draught at the Kerkom pub. Hazy gold appearance with a thick, clingy head. The aroma is a littel yeasty and fruity but mainly gives the impression if spicy, fresh cut herbs and oranges. Smooth and fruity flavor with orange and a lightly herbal, boozy finish to let you know you are drinking a tripel. Smooth, medium body. Nice stuff. Definitely my kind of tripel.

Bottle 75 cl from Beer Planet in Brussels (B). Golden beer with short foam, slightly flat. The taste is, like the bouquet, soft, with yeast and zest. Spices, toffy, bread, fruity and a little peppered. Average roundness. Bitterness in finale, hints of wood and acidity.
