Dark black with no head unfortunately. This didnít hurt the flavor, nice dark chocolate and coffee notes, what you would expect for an imperial stout. The bourbon came through very nice on this one, great beer.

bottle... someone pleas tell me what this was aged in, doesnít seem like Kentucky bourbon to me... nice aroma that has lots of coconut and chocolate but alcohol as well... taste is very spirity, alcohol seems much higher than 10%.... a decent sipper but wouldnít actively seek out again

On tap @ Downtown Johnny Brownís: Poured with an overflow of thick foamy head while the liquid was a pitch black. Aroma is deep and robust with perfectly roasted dark malts and a scent of wood perhaps bourbon. I was only told by the bar keep that this was their Class V Stout but barrel aged, so I assume from the nose and taste it was bourbon barrel aged. The flavor is semi sweet yet bitter and has a taste similar to dark chocolate while also having a touch of alcohol heat that comes through as whisky. The drink finishes with a sticky residue and an aftertaste of strong Arabic coffee. Good stuff!

Didnít expect to see this at woodshop Classix, but sure enough MikeDashG had this one up his sleeve. Pours dark black with a mild amount of bubble formation. No head, no lacing. Nose is full of Vanilla and Nibs, little bit of boose stings the nostrils in the end. That said, the notes come off super sweet, but it lacks that burnt sugar note I normally associate with a BA stout. Taste is really thick with chocolate malts and chocolate cake frosting. The flavor is really quite good, but I canít help but feel the heat I got in the nose in my throat. This finishes out nicely with some thick caramel lingers. The mouth was medium to me, with the alcohol giving a really oily coat in the mouth that made me feel prone to catching fire. This was really great on the flavor, but I was surprised at the heat thatís still in there.

On nitro tap. Rating 5300. Pours with a pitch black body and a lasting, and surprisingly large tan head. Aromas are huge: bourbon, chewy, fudge, chocolate and oak. Hints of maple, vanilla and a toasted maltiness. Roast is smooth. Flavors of dark fruit, currants, raisins, dates, chocolate, milk chocolate, mild roast, oak and light bourbon. Creamy mouthfeel. Rich, silky. Well hidden alcohol. Excellent!

750ml bottle. Pours an oily, opaque black with a thin, creamy off white head. Nose is muted and mellow, vanilla, oak, woody, chocolate, brown sugar, molasses. Flavor is vanilla beans, coffee grounds, malty, molasses, licorice, toasted bread. Medium bodied, super smooth, lightly slick finish that leaves a lasting vanilla essence in the mouth.

Bottle [750ml] shared with HogTownHarry, garthicus, GregClow, jerc & mabel -- c/o IrishBoy. Bottle No. 205. Pours black with a spare bubbly head. Aroma is sweet and boozy, along with vanilla, oak, roasted malt and coffee. Flavour is strong! Like shots of vodka strong. Thereís notes of bourbon, wood, vanilla, sweet malt, brown sugar and a crapload of alcohol. Full bodied. This is way too boozy and barely drinkable, my rating is, imo, generous.

[3629-20110304] 750mL bottle. Roasted barrel wood aroma with some vanilla hints. Black body with a quick bubbly head. Roasted wood flavour has a massive vanilla oak wood aftertaste. Full body burns a little. Interesting but I cannot take this much vanilla. (7/3/7/4-/14) 3.5
Overheard: "Bourbon-charged." "Itís like shots of vodka."
