heemer77 (3536), North Liberty, Iowa, USA May 7, 2008 Thanks for sharing a bottle, iowaherekeye. The black body was topped with an orange brown head. The aroma was strong coffee and dark chocolate. There was also some chocolate chip pancakes. The taste was plums and light coffee. There was also some burnt pancakes. A nice stout, even though the bomber was a little underfilled.
BeerVirgin72 (553), C-Bus, Ohio, USA Jun 30, 2008 Bottle shared at Cbus Tasting 11. Pour was black. Aroma was roasted coffee. Flavor was sweet chocolate, sweet malts, and coffee. Caught a hint of vanilla and fruit. I love sweet stouts and this one was very drinkable and much enjoyed. iowaherkeye (1360), Back in Iowa City!, Iowa, USA May 7, 2008 22oz bomber, no date from IrishBoy, thanks Richard! Black with 1/2 finger beige head, fair to good retention. Lots of milk chocolate, roast, and brown sugar toffee up front. A bit of vanilla and hints of alcohol round out the aroma. Flavor is a bit more roasty, though not overly so. Vanilla and brown sugar are there to keep the roast from getting acidic, and some added piney hops help round everything out. Semi-dry finish with bitterness peaking at a 2-3. Full body with low to moderate creamy carbonation. The flavor actually got an 8 1/2, but I ended up adding it to the overall score. ironchefscott (219), long beach, California, USA May 7, 2008 some nice roasted malt flavors and aromas
though I think the sweetness detracts from the possible malt complexity? or maybe that is just me....thanks irishboy! miketd (330), Cleveland, Ohio, USA May 4, 2008 Bottle from odeed. Thanks man! Mahogany pour with a big brown head. Aroma is coffee and roast malt. Didn’t get much chocolate. It also had a earthy/leathery quality. Flavor is bitter coffee and chocolate. Just a tad thin, but still nice brew!
